Hello everyone! I recently bought my wife the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer for Christmas. When it arrived I opened the shipping package and found that it contained a shrink wrapped white box without any images printed on it at all. The only identifying information was a label printed on the side. Did anyone else's come like this and is there any reason why the QVC Dysons come like this? Last time I received items like this in similar packaging it was for factory refurbished items. I am hoping that QVC is not selling refurbished items and not telling buyers.

Re: Dyson Supersonic Packaging

I find your logic somewhat skewed.  A white box indicates a refurbished item?  That's  a first.

QVC has never sold refurbished. merchandise.  Federal law mandates items must be marked as such.

I see what you're saying.  QVC doesn't sell refurbished products, but I could think it was an item returned without the manufacturer's box or damaged and was repackaged for sale.  Products like this are sold by other retailers with the photo of the product and name on the box. For the money you paid for this, there should be a nice box for gifting.

I received a drill in a plain brown box one time.  Other customers complained, but everything inside looked new.

To give QVC a better price, Dyson may have decided to sell the heaters in plain boxes.  If everything looks new, then I'd think that was the case.

You could read the reviews on this product's page to see if others say anything about the boxes.

Re: Dyson Supersonic Packaging

I just watched a couple of unboxing videos on YouTube. (From many months to a couple years ago)  Those showed a plain brown box shrink-wrapped with just a label with Dyson on the side and some model numbers.  Upon opening the plain box there's a more "retail" friendly "pretty" box with the image of the Hair Dryer.

Did you open the plain box to see what's in it?  Might be another box.

On a side note, I mostly buy kitchen items so I can't vouch for Dyson products but most of the kitchen stuff I buy comes in a generic brown box, no images just a sticker here or there, wrapped in bubble wrap or such.

Might just be a QVC thing.  Maybe companies cut costs this way when QVC buys mass amounts in order to get a good deal.  They don't purchase the fancy "retail" packaging since it won't be sitting on a store shelf.

Re: Dyson Supersonic Packaging

I think it's the original packaging -  having a return of any kind shrink wrapped is highly unusual.  Maybe Dyson supplies mass marketers like Amazon and QVC with different packaging than it does for Nordstrom and Nieman.  I've seen quite different packaging for Clarisonic devices locally than I got when I bought them here at QVC and I never felt mine were returns of any kind.

Besides -  that's exactly how my dryer was packaged.

We got a Dyson vacuum from Q a couple of years ago with similar packaging.  I remember thinking that Dyson must favor a minimalist design when it comes to their boxes that are shipped out.

On a side note, yippppeeee. . .your wife's getting a Dyson Supersonic!  I've been looking at that and the other Dyson hair styling device.   What a thoughtful gift.  Smiley Happy

Re: Dyson Supersonic Packaging

I don't see how you can find my logic skewed if, as stated in my first post, I have on multiple occasions recieved factory refurbished, returned or repackaged open-box items in non-retail packaging. Might be a first for you, but I've been screwed by supposedly reputable retailers before, Federal law notwithstanding. But thank you for your insightful and constructive response. You've made a quite a helpful contribution. A+ for trying to add value to the conversation. But I am reassured by the other helpful indivduals here and take it that the hair dryer is fine. If any mods wish to close this thread, feel free.

Re: Dyson Supersonic Packaging

@RussellA I rec'd this TSV. It came in a very nice Dyson box w/ product pics, etc. (like I'd expect to purchase in store). This Dyson product box was secured inside a tan unmarked cardboard box. I have no doubts it's brand new.
