Most of the time I use either Batiste or Not Your Mother's. I've even used plain cornstarch successfully a couple of times. NYM does leave a little bit of a white cast, but it's not bad for me, and does go away. Someone with darker hair might not have the same experience. Batiste comes in a lot of assorted scents and even comes in colors. It's available on the Alpha Hydrox website, and is currently on sale as a Buy One, Get One Half Off.

I think they all do to an extent.. you just have to brush them out really well and not spray too close. I use Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo, I get a huge bottle from CVS. Love it, it gives my hair a little volume, too. ![]()

I don't think there's any way of getting around the white residue. As Bikkie said, you'll have to brush really well. I just picked up a can of Pssst at Walgreens a few days ago; really cheap though I don't remember exactly how much. So far, so good.

Ya can't beat the price on it either. I don't know what CVS charges, but I just bought that tall can from Ulta for $5.99 (before the discount). I like the NYM Thickening Spray, too.

I don't usually use them, but my dd likes the Not Your Mothers as well.
If the store is out, I am told to NOT buy dove. She doesn't like it at all. I just bought her some suave, but she hasn't commented on it.

Not Your Mother's or Dove.

I use Dove and have never had an issue with white residue. But I don't spray close either.
My favorite is Oscar Blandi but I can't justify that price.

I used Psssst for quite some time but lately I haven't been able to find it. I picked up one from the drug store, I think it's DOVE. This is 2014, today's dry shampoo isn't the same stuff that they used decades ago. It's all in aerosol cans and none of it leaves that white residue. If it does, you are using to much of it.

Try Batiste Hint of Color dry shampoo -- comes in different shades, around $10.
