Has anyone ever used coconut oil for dry scalp?  Hairdresser suggested that (or even extra virgin olive oil), saying she could sell me expensive product from the shop,  but recommended I try this.

I don't have flakes, just dry skin.  She said slather it on, leave for 15-30 minutes, then wash.

I learned this trick from SilleeMee.  She suggested adding a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo.  It worked for me.

Believe it or not, my dermatologist told me to use Head and Shoulders condtioner. He said it is the most moisturizing  conditioner on the market. I assume he meant grocery and drug stores, not salon. He, as well as my hair stylist both said never use tee tree oil since it is very drying.

I just have dryness and some itching at hair line only and only since winter with it being so cold the heat is on higher.   Creams only get my hair oily so not sure what to rub on at the hairline .    Maybe aloe or argon oil.  In fact I think I will try argon oil .

I have a few dry skin patches on my scalp and have been using tea tree oil on it at night.  I can't stand the smell of it but it did clear it up within a week, although reading this, I may discontinue using it.

Cerave has come out with a dandruff shampoo now which I've ordered.  It will be here later this week.

Tea Tree oil is good for dry scalp if you use it with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil. Using it undiluted will cause dryness. Your not supposed to use it without a carrier oil.
