I'm new to collagen, but I'm sure some of you are seasoned pros. Any recommendations for a collagen powder I can add to my coffee or other beverages?

@SurferWife - I've read pros and cons about powdered collagen.  One of them was that it's processed at such high heat that the heat destroys it.  I'm not smart or scientific enough to know if that's true. Plus you see tons of positive reviews on certain ones so are they true or placebo effect?  Even so, I've opted for a liquid.  Is it processed with heat too?  I don't know, but I believe it's absorbed easier.  The one I use is called Aminosculpt.  You can take it directly from the spoon but IMO it goes down easier when mixed with water, so it's simple to incorporate by using it when taking vitamins. It comes in a few flavor options and I order it from Amazon.

Re: Collagen Recommendations

@SurferWife , I started Vital proteins collagen peptides Advanced about 3 months ago...im not going to buy anymore.   I really cant say there's been any difference in skin, hair or nails...body too(aches).

That said...I've  had no digestive problems, and the Advanced is almost tasteless...I mix it in water with fresh lemon.   I'll finish what I have, will be about another 2 weeks...

Never seen any proof it's beneficial.

I take one b/c I'm on Rx bone density drugs where collagen is being used to build new bone. My healthcare provider recommended I take one. I chose this powder by Horbaach. Unflavored, dissolves easily. I put it in my coffee.

3-month supply - $25

'Amazon's Choice'

Pure collagen, nothing else

Re: Collagen Recommendations

@SilleeMee How much is a serving?

I got a lemon-flavored Vital Proteins collagen powder, but a serving size is 4 TBS.  Try dissolving that in 8 oz of liquid and I don't drink that much liquid in the first place.  I don't have a problem with the lemon flavor, but there's still that odd taste I associate with protein powders and I just can't stand.

I decided to try again with a liquid and got a Neocell liquid in pomegranate yesterday at my local Vitamin Shoppe.  Sadly, if I actually like it, it'll probably be discontinued.  I originally tried to get it from iHerb and there expected date keeps moving out day by day.  Amazon doesn't have it.  So, I'm afraid it may be going the way of the dinosaur.  I guess if I like it and can't get it, I'll try the one @JeanLouiseFinch got.

Horbaach has a scoop inside and it holds 10 g, one serving. @Icegoddess

@SilleeMee , so how much is that tablespoon-wise.  I know nothing about grams.

@Icegoddess

10-gram scoop is more than one Tbsp. It's the same serving size as Vital Proteins brand. Vital Proteins serving size is not 4 Tbsps. for the one I'm looking at, the 'Pure collagen' one. The other VP options have additives like vitamin C and hyaluronic acid so those would be more grams per serving.

Re: Collagen Recommendations

I can tell that my joints don't get as achy and stiff after I have scrubbed floors and showers or worked cleaning the garage or attic.  I find that it does help with that.
