HI all
I agree with you I cancelled Allure years ago . Since I went cruelty free about 4 years ago I really dont use the brands featured , also the majority of the magazines are ads and it seems that so many of the beauty magazines are filled with the latest celebrities . I used to enjoy fashion/beauty magazines when they featured designers, makeup artist columns ( like Kevin Aucoin in Allure) . If I want to see the Kardasians or other celebs I can buy People etc. One magazine that I still enjoy is Redbook , they have a nice variety of beauty (Mally has a page) also they fashion ( for all sizes ) and recipes . I used to like Oprah too , but many of her recommended for fashion and beauty products and gifts are not Budget friendly . Sadly my 2 favorites are no longer in circulation MORE and Mirabella . Have a great day ladies .

YES!! I agree completely. I read beauty magazines for beauty info/entertainment, NOT to have some editors political views shoved down my throat on every page. No matter your leanings, it should not be in a BEAUTY magazine in my opinion. I was just thinking I need to cancel Glamour for this exact reason.

I dont subscribe to magazines but I seem to have gotten a lot of them through the products I buy. I now remove that option if it is offered. I use to like paging through them, now they are nothing but ads. I find them a waste of paper. I havent noted any agendas but it may be that I really dont even look at them when they come. I just give them away for the most part. No matter what you do these days, you cant get around the agendas. It is sad. Talk about scking the life out of "fun."

You are going to find that most media have an agenda - not just beauty magazines.
The media believe that their sole purpose in life is to influence public opinion.

I personally think that the more upscale beauty/style magazines are geared toward a demographic that enjoys well-written articles on a variety of topics.
Certainly there must be such magazines that barely bother with trying to give a reader something to think about beyond her face and hair.
So even though the only time I look at style or beauty magazines is at my hair salon, it doesn't bother me at all. I've read some excellent pieces.
I think I did!! I was tweaked again by my latest round of magazines. I though allure was okay, but I read their editor is different. So, more slant in it. I would call some of it racial, which I really don't need to hear about in a beauty magazine. We get enough of it elsewhere. I don't mind if it's how different skin tones need different makeup tones, etc., but not about what models are used, etc. Not relevant to my reading.
There are PLENTY of other magazines that cover world events and opinions. I'll read those if I want THAT.

Thank you for confirming that this is a repeat thread from you, @hyacinth003
After reading your reply to me here, especially the sentence I bolded, I agree even more with @QVCkitty1 that this thread is politically- and agenda-driven. Frankly, I would rather not see either injected into the Beauty forum. JMO, of course.
The irony of it all! ![]()
