I'm curious if anyone here skips sunscreen for days when you won't spend much time in the sun? Now I know that even on days that it's not even that sunny you still get UV exposure, and that the sun's rays are aging and can cause cancer, but on the other hand, the sun's rays provide the best form of Vitamin D, and sunscreen can contain some pretty harmful ingredients. I'm curious if anyone has found the right balance for their skin?
Recently I bought a UV protective umbrella and a UV protective hat and I use one of them when walking my dogs. Otherwise I minimize my sun exposure. I stopped using all exfoliants, so I feel my skin is less vulnerable to the sun. I have been wearing a mineral makeup which has SPF 15, but I've been reading recently on EWG skin deep that even titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are a 1-3 on the health concern scale, and I've been trying to only use products with a 0-1. Plus, I must admit that I'm also sick of the breakouts that come from using a physical or chemical sunscreen daily. They ALL clog my pores and cause breakouts for me. So I think I'm going to stick with this routine for a while and see how my skin behaves. Curious to see what others do about sunscreen.
