The skin on my hands is paper thin too because I use an inhaled prednisone for my asthma and that is a side effect of prednisone - very thin skin , esp. on the hands.
@151949 I think you have mentioned that you were a redhead, 151949. That generally means very fair skin, which is naturally thinner and more vunerable to everything in the environment - sun, chemicals, medications, etc. I'm very fair skinned, too, and my hands look the same as yours. We had three strikes against us to begin with when it comes to hands. I have a vivid memory of holding my Mother-in-law's hand when she was fatally ill in the hospital. I looked down and noticed that her 50 yr. old hand looked younger than my 23 yr. old hand! She was a brunette with darker toned skin and her skin had aged very well.

Yes, i agree. my dad was a redhead and he had such thin skin that I felt I could almost see right through it as he got older. My Mom was half Italian and had dark brown hair and eyes and olive skin. Unfortunately, I inherited skin and hair from the Irish side of the family. i have some sunspots on the side of my forehead and i asked the derm about them - she said they are because you are of Irish heritage. Those are common in the Irish.

Many years ago there was a commercial featuring a mother and adult daughter. I think it was for a dish soap, like Palmolive. The women showed their hands side-by-side and you couldn't tell - from their hands alone - who was mother and who was daughter. The mother used Palmolive, of course!

I'd rather my hands be capable - and healthy.
But since I naturally have dry skin, I do use hand lotion/cream daily, especially after I wash them or they get wet.
