Yes, because sizing is all over the place now, even within the confines of a brand. In B&M stores as well, when ordering from their website. They need to come up with a better industry standard. I think I am returning more, mostly because I am ordering online more now than I ever did in the past.

I find that I am returning almost half of what I buy. It is the fabric, the fit (which is more out of whack these days), and the quality that must be right. And the jewelry must be substantial yet comfortable. I do try to be careful, read reviews and check measurements. If I am not happy with it, it goes back and I tell them exactly why. I have kept many things that I am pleased with. Somethings you have to try on, see, feel to make sure they are right. I shop with the Q, just like I was in a store, if it is not right, I don't buy

I just received the Tarte set of 3 Cashmere eyeliners and back they are going..awful product. All but impossible to turn up the pencil, one was leaving pieces on my hand when I tested it, just garbage. I'm really turned off with this kind Cr*p being sold to me. I guess buyer beware. I know I'll never buy another cosmetic from QVC.

To the OP...are you kidding? I buy a lot of things (i.e. clothes, some jewelry, stuff). I have returned 3/4 of the clothing I've bought. I try it on, turn the bag inside out, fill out the slip and back it goes.
In the past I'd just keep the clothes. I have finally wised up! Nothing fits! The arms are unbelievably long! I don't mean a little bit long....I mean too long for me to adjust them. I'm an OK seamstress.
When I worked (back in the end of the 90's) I made most of my clothes. But these arms are so long, I can't fix them. The quality of the material, much of it is junk!
I see it on TV and think, "This time it will work". You have no idea all of the things I've sent back just today.
I still keep trying. I don't shop in stores because I have trouble walking. I like to dress nicely even though I don't work. I get compliments on the way I dress. Anyway, do I send back a lot of things? Yes, yes and yes.
My main complaint is with the sleeves. Who in the world has arms that long? Who?

I returned 3 items today, and just sending it standard mail at USPS--it cost $12.70 to mail. That burns me up--so I'm going to be doing a whole lot less ordering. And I am apparently a slow learner because it was 3 SG clothing items. About 80% of my returns are from that line. No more--the end. If I do order more clothing, it will be D & C and Liz Claiborne. But this shipping and returning is a racket.

Like many of us I have learned the hard way. Returning way too much, the cost of returning is a joke!!! The hosts always say " 30 day return policy", but I am offending when OVC sends me a letter telling me I am sending back to many products. Are you kidding me!!! Maybe I am sending things back because the quality is junk!
I have learned my lesson, very cautious about my spending now. I have pretty much given up on clothes, quality is not there. Make-up is a joke. Susan Graver drives me crazy, nothing is as GREAT as she says all the time. Josie is in love with herself, even though I do like her body cream, nothing else from her line.
Shipping cost is out of control. It drives me crazy when a host says "it only cost this amount of money", no it doesn't, your not including the high shipping cost and tax. After that it is not a value anymore.
My advise, think long and hard before you purchase anything. Chances are you can buy almost anything from another website or the mall for alot less.

Seriously, if I was returning 4 out of 5 items, I would stop buying.
From looking at the replies to this question, it looks like those who have other options "left the building" when they realized that their returns were consistently high.

Chiclet's original post is about brick-and-mortar stores -- and her recent shopping experience in-person -- not just online shopping or QVC per se'.
Retailers are trying to fight back over an increase (evidently) in returns. I've suggested that they have a problem with a deterioration in product quality and value, not a rise in fussy shoppers. Trying to minimize returns with antagonistic return policies is not the answer. Customers are more willing to walk away than retailers seem to realize. It's not always about the economy. Sometimes it's about product quality, selection, service, and the overall perceived value!

No, because I buy a lot less now from the Q. I can get better deals and quality at other retailers.
