Use the tea tree as a scalp treatment - not only keeps my scalp healthy and normalized, but helps my hair grow faster. Use WEN oils mixed with my styling crème for added shine and moisture, on my face and body as a moisturizer, it naturally gets on my cuticles from using it everywhere else - I have no cuticles for my nail tech to push back.
Yes, you could make your own, but you would have to know the right combination of essential oil to carrier oil, and the right blends to get the best results. Buying all the high quality oils would be as expensive or more so than the WEN oils and for me, take a lot of time. It's worth it to me to let Chaz have the expertise and mix it for me.
As for the finishing cream, if you use it, use just a pea size, warm it in your hands and smooth it on dry hair - good for high humidity days, second hair days, etc.
This is pretty much how I feel. I once bought a drawer full of essential and carrier oils for making soaps, candles, perfume oils and beauty products. I don't worry so much about the ratio of carrier and essential oils for benefits, but I had a heck of a time with scents. I would muck things up constantly. Sometimes I'd get a perfect oil, but still had to go and much it up with "just a touch more" of something or another and ...yuck. I'm totally willing to let someone else do that part.
I do, however, mix my precious WEN oils with other things so that I don't use them as quickly. I have one bottle of Tea Tree I save for mixing with a little castor oil to use on my hair. (I have another bottle that holds 100% WEN Tea Tree oil that I use on my face.) I also add the Sweet Almond Mint or other oils to my unscented body lotion. It scents the oils, adds a moisture boost, and means I use the expensive oil more slowly. Win!
Great suggestion about extending the WEN oils! I will definitely do that ![]()

What does all this oil do to your pillows? I'd like to try them, but I have fine hair and curious what the oil would do to my bedding.

I put a t-shirt over my pillowcase. Voila! No issues.

I'm another one for YES!
I don't cover my hair at night. My pillows don't get any oils on them. It's surprising how quickly they absorb into the hair and scalp.
As for making your own concoction, I tried that when TT Oil was on backorder. That did make my pillow greasy and my hair and scalp weren't the same as when I use a Wen Treatment Oil. I ordered it from eBay instead of waiting.

I have very fine hair. The wen oils soak in really well. I just put my hair up into a bun. I notice that my pillowcase smells good for the next couple of days, but it doesn't hurt my pillow. the oils stays in my hair. But a towel over it if you worried wouldn't hurt

same here...also I apply the oils a few hours before bedtime so by the time I hit the sheets my hair has soaked up the oil.

I have wheat/gluten allergies - don't know if the oils are gluten free...Vitamin E can have wheat and gluten in it...
The glossing serum doesn't seem to be a treatment but similar to a silicon...?
Another big yes here! I use the oils on my scalp and hair and they've made a huge difference! I also use them on my skin for skin care and my skin is so much better now, softer and clearer!
I'm also gluten free and have no problems with them. The first place I would show a sign of reacting to them would be my scalp or skin (I have a lot of skin and scalp reactions when I'm exposed to gluten) and my skin and scalp have only cleared. No concoction of my own comes close to his oils.
Yes, the glossing serum is silicone based. If you want treatment and healing you need the oils. HTH!

Some of the oils have medicinal qualities (especially TT & FIG) which help keep your scalp healthy. Jojoba oil is a great emulsifier and will help loosen dried sebum (body oil) and grit off of your scalp. If you have an oily scalp, I'd recommend that you try overnight scalp treatments with the TT oil. This sounds counterintuitive, so I like to quote Bobbi Brown here:
It takes an oil to balance an oil.
Shampoo strips all the oil off of your scalp, so your scalp redoubles it's efforts and creates even more of an oil slick of a scalp. Over the years your scalp adapts to this extreme routine, so that even when you stop using these harsh shampoos your scalp already has a well developed routine. Doing overnight scalp oil treatments is a forceful way of letting your scalp know that it's ok to slow down it's oil production. But it will probably still take a few months for your scalp to normalize it's oil production.
Chaz's TT treatment oil is probably your best bet. You can also make your own jojoba/TT oil mix (that's what I do because it's more economical) using a 95% jojoba oil to a 5% tea tree oil blend. Never use more than 5% total essential oils in with a carrier oil (such as jojoba oil). Essential oils (such as tea tree oil) can be very irritating to the skin. Before you put the mix on your scalp, do an overnight skin test. Put a bit of the mixture on your arm and then check it the following morning. If there's no sign of irritation then you're probably good to go.
At Trader Joe's, you can buy 4oz jojoba oil ($7) and 1oz Australian tea tree oil ($7). At The Vitamin Shoppe, you can buy a dropper bottle for $4 (the manufacturer is Bach -- they sell all the homeopathic flower remedies like Rescue Remedy).
I hope this information helps.
