Do shimmer bronzers, blushes and shadows flake and chip easily?

I own a Trish Mc Evoy shimmer split pan of shimmer bronzer and highlighter. It is beautiful and convenient to use from the page in her planner. However, after 9 months (shouldn't be too old), the product is chipping away and now chunks are coming off every time I open the planner. I take very good care of the page and the planner well protects my make up. Is shimmer more fragile than matte makeup? I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm thinking about buying the Bobbi Brown TSV next week, but worried the shimmer brick will disintegrate. What do you think?
