Re: Do any of the Philosophy fragrances really smell like fresh snow?

You may want to try Demeter - they have a fragrance called Snow. It's very ""earthy"" and kind of smells like the ground after it snows - very strange. They have their own website but sometimes their fragrances are cheaper on other fragrance websites.

Re: Do any of the Philosophy fragrances really smell like fresh snow?

MarenSeattle you are right on. There is a certain scent to the air just before and after snow falls and that's what I'm looking for. Will look at Demeter fragrances and see if I can find any of their Snow locally or maybe a sampler of Snow Angel. Demeter sounds interesting to say the least! I appreciate everyone's help, although the suggestions that I might be looking for the smell of yellow snow were sliding in a bit sideways!

That wonderful ""fresh"" smell after a rain or a snowfall is actually the odor of the negatively charged ions that occur. To actually isolate and bottle this ""scent"" and sell it successfully is the height of an incredibly successful PR campaign....

I don't have a recommendation for you, but despite the skeptics, I know what you mean! I swear I can always smell "snow in the air" BEFORE it snows (and I'm usually right). Couldn't put my finger on it or assign it a certain scent, but it's definitely a "smell" I'm picking up on.

I honestly haven't paid attention to what it smells like after a snowfall, but I'll pay attention this year. :-)

ChynnaBlue's recommendation of the Demeter fragrance has interested me. I've whiffed a couple of them, but they weren't to my liking. But I'd like to smell Snow, Thunderstorm and Funeral Home -- I'm intrigued as to what a Funeral Home smells like!

Reviewers seem to agree it's a floral that smells mostly of white flowers you might find in a funeral arrangement. They usually mention carnations and lilies.

I love Demeter. The fragrances I like I really like and many I don't like but appreciate because they're so quirky. Who decided we needed a Lobster fragrance? "Demeter's Lobster is a combination of the sea, sweet meat, and a hint of drawn butter."

smells like fresh snow - really? Exactly what does fresh snow smell like? Anybody???

Let's face it, fresh snow has no scent - unless someone or someone's pet 'writes their name it' - you know what I'm saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry - yeah I HAD to go there!!!

{#emotions_dlg.lol} Glad you did go there. Thanks for the laugh. Snow has no taste either & I'm not going there with the yellow snow {#emotions_dlg.scared}.

I've always gotten a chuckle about Philosophy's description that their product smells like snow. Snow itself has no odor. Rain has no odor. The air sometimes will have a distinctive "smell" to it before a storm, but it's not a fragrance per se & it dissipates quickly.

Good luck finding the fragrance you are looking for anniebear.

Snow Angel is to my nose very floral. I'm not a fan although many on this board love it.
