Wow-interesting how we are all so different.  I didn't think it dried hot at all.  I felt it didn't dry any faster !  It just helps with frizz.  It appeared to dry on a cooler setting for me!  It was far cooler than my T3.

IMO, many are not happy due to the price, and they are making themselves believe many negative things about it.  It's called the power of the mind, LOL, and the cost is making one feel that it doesn't work. (post-purchase dissonance).

I get it...it's super expensive.  I've bought things before and returned them as I knew it was super costly, and I didn't really need it.

But, I'm being objective, and I think it's fabulous.  Good things cost a lot of money

Wow! So defensive about a hair dryer. Making assumptions about why people have negative opinions about it. Maybe they just didn't like it or feel it was worth that much money. I really don't know how much hair everyone has to spend that kind of money to reduce drying time on. I have pretty thick hair and it takes me about 10 minutes with my cheapo Conair. I wouldn't spend a lot of money to cut that by 5 minutes.

And not all good things cost a lot of money. sometimes smart shoppers can find really good bargains.

So defensive about a hairdryer?  I have no idea what you are talking about.  My opinion is that many don't like it because of that, and yes...it's my opinion.  It's hardly being defensive, LOL.

Obviously you didn't like hearing the truth.

another assumption? Good grief. Your statement was a put down as is this one. And yes, I can afford it. And choose not to.

Got it!!Woman LOL

I wouldn't either...but cutting down from 45 mins to 20 is definitely worth it for me. My hair is layered and not even shoulder length, but it's coarse and thick and has always taken forever to dry. The last time I tried air drying, it still wasn't fully dry after 9 hours. And I did get a great deal on mine Smiley Wink That was just lucky timing though, since I had already decided to buy at full price.

Oh, but according to pinksunset, it shouldn't be worth it to you to cut your drying time down.Woman LOL

I think people who have easy hair just don't "get it."  Of course I'd love to be able to dry my hair in 10 mins with any old hair dryer.  Not happening.  That's okay.  We all have our own challenges and priorities! Cat Wink

I'm one with easy hair so I don't think it would be worth it for me.  I have fine hair and not a ton of it and it's now short.  I can now use my blow dryer and a round brush for the most part and get my hair done.

My cousin wants one of these in a big way. She is a hair stylist.  The girl who has the chair next to her in the salon bought one and loves it.  She said it was well worth every penny.

That being said, I'm sure there are some people who have purchased this and legitimately don't care for it or just don't think it's worth the money as compared to other dryers they have.  That is their opinion and the fact that it's expensive has nothing to do with it.  Using that logic I'm sure there are also people who buy something expensive and because it's so expensive they think it's better plus they want to be able to say they own a $400.00 dryer.

It's a hairdryer.  It's opinions.  I'm not sure why people need to argue about it.  Everyone's opinion is valid if they've tried the dryer.

@Lipstickdiva ITA. I am sure the fact that it's expensive factors into a lot of people's opinions...people have expectations based on what they're spending and won't be satisfied if those expectations aren't met (whether those expectations are reasonable or not is a different question!)  And like you say, the flip side of that is that there are people who convince themselves it's the greatest invention since fire in order to feel more justified in their purchase Smiley Wink  But there doesn't have to be anything beyond "I didn't like it" or "it wasn't anything special" behind it either.  For me, I had a specific dry time in mind, and if it didn't happen, I wouldn't have kept the thing.

@TibardButtercup was my 1st real high end buy dryer...it's very good.

I also bought the travel size but has 2 settings.

My large dryer is my fave.

Does a fab job.

No need for higher end!

Happy for those who love Dyson :-)

Dislike that very heavy cord on Dyson for my bad shoulders.

I WOULD NEVER PAY THAT MUCH MONEY FOR A HAIRDRYER ! I HAVE SUPER THICK HAIR. MY MOM DID TO. SHE PERMED DYED HER HAIR. NEVER USED A HAIDRYER, AND  SHE STILL HAD SUPER THICK HAIR. I WOULD RATHER BUY A GOOD PAIR OF SHOES OR A PURSE, FOR THE PRICE OF DYSON. YEARS AGO I TRIED OLIVE OIL IN MY HAIR, I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER GET IT OUT. WHEN LITTLE MY MOM USED  MOISTURIZER IN MY HAIR. IT MADE IT SHINY !!!!!!::

I have some Conair ionic tourmaline hair dryers with straightening attachments. I think that they are starting to become less effective though and I've looked online at newer Conair hair dryers that are like a hair dryer paddle brush. I will take a better look at them the next time I'm in the U.S. though as hair dryers in the U.S. have appliance fault circuit interrupter plugs while those in Canada do not.

same thing as those bellyaching about a $20 bag working as well as a $300 one,

and how they would never spend their money that way.

I understand @PinkSunset 's point, since her hair normally only takes 10 minutes to dry with an inexpensive dryer, and wouldn't be worth the extra $$$ just to cut the time down to 5 minutes.  AND I understand your point that the Dyson is well worth the money, as it cuts your drying time down from 45 minutes to 20 minutes.  That would be worth it to me, as I am not great at blow drying my hair!

I was tempted to buy the Dyson, and one of the reasons was for the beautiful design.  I'm sure many people would find that to be incredibly dumb, but I appreciate beautiful design.  I, also, was tempted because as I already mentioned, I'm not great at blow drying my challenging hair type (a mix of wavy and straight, which tends to get some frizz).  I read some reviews (not here) that because the Dyson dries hair much faster, the heat is damaging to the hair, but I'm sure that varies from people to people.  Many posts on this thread mentioned the Dyson hasn't damaged their hair.  I'm just afraid with my luck, it would damage my fine hair, and I've struggled with that many times in my life!

Another "superficial" reason I was tempted to buy the Dyson was for the cute pale pink storage case that was included when it first launched (not sure it was included here at QVC or not, but I remember Sephora had it). Yep, I admit the pale pink case had tempted me!
