Considering trying Wen, but confused -- please help!

I am considering giving Wen a try and have read many reviews and instructions but I am still confused about something -- there is so much emphasis placed on rinsing & rinsing & rinsing until you are sure it's all out. Then you turn around and put some back in as a leave in conditioner -- why work so hard to get it out in the first place? I really don't mean this to sound like I'm bashing the process -- maybe I have missed something somewhere -- this just seems illogical! Can anyone explain please? Thanks!
