I have off this week using up some comp time so I don't lose it.  So I went to walmart around 11am which is unheard of because I typically go in after work and rush through to get what I need.  I was looking in the bath section for a shower curtain liner and they had mirrors lined up for purchase. I never look at myself in a store mirror but there was no one around so I took a few glances and one good look.  Now I have mentioned here before I wear very little makeup.  My skin looked pretty good and I'm not a foundation or powder wearer.  It's smooth and even and no wrinkles.  Blush was my Dollar Tree find and looked pretty natural.  But oh to my surprise, my under eyes looked a bit blue...WTH?  When I looked closer, I saw it's very small veins 😫.  I don't wear a concealer but looks like I might have to learn about that and look for one that is very natural.  I have a brow appointment at 5 today and the esthetician is also a make up artist so I got questions for her!!  I remember in the past she has told me bathroom mirrors are the worse, as is a vanity mirror or makeup mirror.  She always finds a good full lighted window and places a good sized mirror in front of it to put on makeup.  Most women have a heavy hand and boy you look like a pageant queen and don't know it.

I will report her suggestions for me.

I think putting on foundation very lightly is best, with light blush.

Nothing's worse than heavy foundation that accentuates all the wrong things!

I wouldn't expect Walmart, or any store, lighting to be that great either.  It might actually be bringing out the blue.

BTW, not all of us have a nice big window where we can stand, and for me that would be half naked, to apply our makeup,  So, maybe ask your expert what we should be doing in that case.

I've never had much luck with trying to find natural lighiting.  Either the sun is shining directly in the window, in which case you're either squinting or only lit on one side.  I've tried getting pictures outside, but I have a shady back yard.

@bmorechick

If you decide to go the concealer route, I have a couple  highly recommend.  Natasha Denona Hy Glam and Kaja Don't Settle.  Kaja will be the lighter/thinner of the two.

NATASHA DENONA Hy-Glam Concealer #1

@Icegoddess

I don't have a window in my bathroom either.  I have a makeup mirror with lights on both sides of the mirror and 4 light colors (home, daylight. evening and something else).  I like it.  Can't imagine putting on my face without it.

It’s usually still dark when I do my makeup so that window thing won’t be helpful. I can assure you I do not look like a pageant queen.

@bmorechick   Store lighting is never the place to judge foundation, concealer or powder products. It takes a sttep out in sunlight to see the true undertone and shade.

If you're not looking for a full coverage foundation, I'd go for 2 concealers...one to lighten under the eyes and one to match your skintone to cover any areas that need a bit of coverage. If blended w/ damp sponge or brush, it's a natural look and skin is visible.

Hope you received some good suggestions during your brow appt.
