Stop the flow.
Once it becomes a habit, it's much easier. We really do use up items much more slowly than we think. We can stretch things out.
I just want to know what it feels like to shop for items because I have nothing left in the drawer. I'm getting so close to finishing my ancient blush. But I think -- even though the e.l.f. shadows are tiny -- they will last for several more months.

My sister is still working through all the teas. When she sniffed Victorian London Fog she cringed a little. Now it's her favorite.
I just emptied a large tin that I'd been using to store Hot Cinnamon Spice. (She likes that one, too.) I refilled the tin with Big Red Sun. That's not a bad black tea at all. But if I'm going to drink black tea, why wouldn't it be Paris or Victorian London Fog?
When I empty more of these tins I'll have to decide on which ones to keep. If I like a tea, I'll keep it. If it's one I'll never reorder in bulk, the tin will be donated.
So which teas are you liking these days?

BH found this and we watched it a couple dozen times yesterday. If you like Freddie Mercury...

@rnmom wrote:Well, Black Friday has come and gone, how did everyone end up doing with their shopping? I did a lot of online shopping on Thursday and hubby shopped online yesterday, but it was all for Christmas gifts and nothing "extra" for me with one small exception. I placed another order with Amazon with items for the kids and did add on one of the Andalou Naturals SPF moisturizers for myself. I won't need it for another month or two but I use it every day and I am on my last one and like to have a backup available, just because you never know when you will run out. So overall I feel like I did pretty good.
I will say that the Ulta e-mails with all of the pretty sets were pretty tempting though, and the 50% off at the e.l.f. website almost did me in, but I'm holding strong because I just don't need anything and I don't want to buy stuff and have it just sit around for another year while I use up the items I have right now. It seems like I do that every year, buy some pretty pallette but then don't use it for almost a year because I'm working on using up other products. If I were smart, and I'm not usually, I would work on using up products all this coming year and not buy more during the year, so that when NEXT Black Friday rolls around I could maybe actually take advantage of the sales and buy something and use it right away. That is actually going to be my goal for this coming year. Only buy replacements of what I actually need, so that I can splurge a little next year.
@rnmom l did really good this Black Friday!! I didn't buy any beauty items. I can't promise that I won't buy anything when Cyber Monday comes, but one day at a time ![]()

@aprilskies wrote:I want to continue my beauty no buy through December too. I think November was a little easier because I just came down off of a buying high so I had that in the background. It made it much easier to talk myself out of buying. But, December should be just as easy if I dont harp on the “sales” or the overhyped products.
I think a few of you mentioned, if I am not mistaken, a possible no buy next year. I have been contemplating this one for a while so I am in if some of you want to try it as a group. I should not need any beauty items at all and if I do, they will only be replacements. And replacements will only be for skincare, I shouldn’t need any mu - not a stitch.
I am looking forward to tackling December. It will be another challenge. As i sit here, I am so glad I didnt fold in November and have to deal with the “mental” gymnastics of any new additions, so I am going to use that as motivation in December. I am tired of feeling overwhelmed and really do want to work on reducing my products.
In 2019, I will be using or decluttering beauty items. I have a few things I want to use again and see if they work and, if not, it is time to go. The reality is the items I am not using are not getting any fresher and are now another year older. I dont mind using some things that are older, but I don’t want to put things on my body that may be harmful even if there are no obvious effects. I dont think most products expire on the date on the bottle, but when you don’t remember when you bought something it might be time. I have been bad at writing the dates on the products.
Anyhoo, I cant believe I am saying this but I do think I am ready for some kind of no buy. In 2019, I will also be including other categories as well. @aprilskies Great job on your No Buy November!! I am definitely going to do a No-Buy in Beauty Products again for Lent in 2019. (I can't do the whole year, but Lent is easy for me to do a no-buy--religious guilt). I probably need to extend my no-buy this coming Lent to clothing, too.

More on developing new habits...
November's habit, as I've posted, was weaning myself off a lifetime of Skippy creamy and adopting a peanut butter with just peanuts and salt. What made the switch easier was using the new stuff on great quality apples every day for two weeks.
I think I've decided on December's new habit. I'm still so reluctant to tackle projects. Even though I know that once I start them I can make real progress.
I brew a mug of tea for five minutes.
In that five minutes I can wash dishes, water plants, sort junk mail, wipe appliances and counters. All sorts of stuff, really. In 5-minute increments.
I need to do that every day, every mug.

I respectfully have to disagree with you. From my perspective, you did have a good Thanksgiving. Even though your husband was (is) in the hospital, you had him for Thanksgiving. And to be even more thankful, his new medication seems to be working for him. With God’s good grace, he will be with you at Christmas—and many more to come.
All thoughts here are with you and your husband. Good to hear from you. Hang in there!🤞🙏

That was perfect. Thank you for the reminder about the things we don't realize are gifts.
You just get wiser by the minute, G.
