Re: ComPact 2018 – Maintainable May

Everyone maintaining?

Trying to what with coming home and finding about a dozen framed prints off the walls and in the donation pile...

I don't support the bare wall strategy.

Also discovered a couple new developments today that will hinder BH's plans.

A mourning dove has built a nest on the top of our ladder on the patio.  Seems like an odd choice because we go in and out and so does the dog.  In fact, when the dog is out his spot is at the base of the ladder so he can monitor his yard from the patio.

I think the dove thinks the dog will keep predators away.  Does that even make sense?

And then I went to the front yard to turn off the hose.  I walked into a swarm of bees.  I've never been stung and I wasn't today.  But they're all over one of my roses.  Is there a hive in there?

What is this?  National Geographic?

Everyone wants to live in this house except BH.

He’s taking the pictures off the walls now?  Uh oh.  Is somebody trying to tell you something?  All of a sudden he doesn’t like what’s he’s been looking at for, how long?  Did you have a “discussion” about it?

I can sort of commiserate with your BH, though, to be honest.  I have some of those same feelings.  My mind is screaming, “Get rid of everything!  And do it NOW!”  The only thing saving me from dumping everything I own is because I’m too lazy to do it, I’m afraid I’ll regret it and need it later, and some of this cr@p is actually worth money to some people so I need to take the time to sell it.

Does BH pay attention to the news?  I’ve gotten so that I hardly listen to or watch any hard news anymore.  I heard some today that just confirmed I’ve been doing the right thing by not listening.  The OG knew so much of this was coming that I’m sorry he’s not here to crow about being right.  (That, and to tell me how to deal with all that’s coming!)  Anyway, if you listen to the news, you think the end of the world is coming, or at least the end of what we know.  That’s very conducive to thinking that you need to get rid of stuff.  At least for me.  I keep having thoughts that everything can be gone in literally a minute.

I think you both need a vacation.

It's FUD.  Fear, uncertainty and doubt.  I don't know how removing art work from a home is therapeutic, but that's me.  Yesterday he had one of my dog books in his hand and was checking it online because he'd read about selling your books back.  Back to what?

FUD, huh?  Interesting.  I think that’s what I have.  Now I have a name for it!  I can say I’m a Old FUDdy Duddy!

I can see gettting rid of my own things.  But I can’t understand getting rid of someone else’s things.  I mean, I’m just now throwing away receipts that the OG kept from 1996.  Even so, I’m a little afraid he might not understand.

Maybe BH tried subtle hinting, but it hasn’t worked to his satisfaction, so now he’s resorting to the not-so-subtle.  Ripping pictures off the wall certainly is not subtle.🤣  I love it!

Re: ComPact 2018 – Maintainable May

[ Edited ]

The pest control guy is due any minute now so we went out to sweep the patio.  The dove watched us from the top of the ladder.

I was on the other side of the yard when I heard BH call me.  I missed it.  My swarm flew right over his head.

Re: ComPact 2018 – Maintainable May

Relieved that the swarm has relocated because I could just see myself telling the bug guy that he can't spray the front yard because I have a swarm of bees in the roses and he can't spray the patio because I have a bird on the ladder.
