I'm ready to write off December and just start over in January.  Where's that Montepulciano d'Abruzzo?

@just bee, wait, let me get my glass!  I feel ready to forget a lot of things for a while.

@aprilskies

It's like that scene in The Godfather...

Don Corleone: I like to drink wine more than I used to... Anyway, I'm drinking more.

Michael: It's good for you, Pop.

Orange rinds, on the other hand...

Another habit I’m trying to break this time decluttering is that when I find something I forgot I even had, not to save it thinking “I might need that”.  Duh.  If I needed it, I wouldn’t have put it away and forgotten about it!  Which applies to most everything I have in the attic, if I think about it.

Pretty much sums it up, huh?

I have 6 denim & co tops and a few pairs of pants that are for spring/summer when do the donation places start accepting warm weather clothing?

@Squirrel Lover

Sometimes an organization will post that information on their website.  But I bet you can call 'em up and ask if they'd accept the donation.  (I scoped out the Animal Humane thrift store before I donated just to get a look at the types of things they accepted.  Looks like they don't often say no.)

Hey, Geezerette, I live in Havre de Grace, MD. It doesn't warm up until the end of April, but I was thinking that the donatation places might want stuff before that. On the other hand, I doubt they have any space to store stuff until the next season.

@Squirrel Lover

Maybe someone is planning a trip or a move to a warmer climate and might need some lighter clothing. Woman Wink

Re: ComPact 2018 – Declutter December

I'm with all of you on the declutter mission.  Nothing brings this full circle like having to empty a room while it's being re-done.

My master is finally (almost) done- Just crown moulding to go.  Had to move everything out.     What a disaster! Went into one of the spare bedrooms where I was stashing Christmas presents.  SO....now I have to separate the gifts from the garbage!

But...I am very determined and --I am NOT buying any more cosmetics, kitchen gadgets or pots, no more anything!  Ugh..luckily I do keep up with papers etc daily- Some just get tossed in the recycle before even getting in the house.  The one thing that did come in that I"m saving is the card from the Boys & Girls club, if you call they come pick up your donations--Yay!   Plan is I'll have to get up pretty early that day to get it all outside and ready for them-- Cookbooks, clothes-- It's all going!

Looking back at the waste......what in the world was I thinking??

Fabulous post @just bee and just in time for the New Year!

It's obviously a really busy time of year, both at work and around the house for me, so I just have other things that are taking priority right now.

I did finally get back to Rite aid and I exchanged my Aquasmooth foundation for the right shade, they gave me the exchange without the receipt without any trouble at all, so that was really nice. That's the only beauty product I've gotten recently.

@rnmom

I hear ya!  I have something taking a lot of my time right now and I'm hoping it can be resolved soon so I can get back on track.  Right now I have one big question mark hovering over me.

But whatever happens, I'll deal with it.

Nice to hear about Rite Aid and I hope that means you're all set on foundation.  Once the basics are out of the way, the rest is easy.  Sort of.

Welcome

Benvenuta!

I think that's right.  I better look at that stack of Italian books that were in with my cookbooks.

That's what I'm trying to figure out.  When the work has to be done and that room has to be emptied, where is the furniture going to go?

But even purchasing for a full year, I have to be careful because I think I overshot and ended up with too much.  (Not surprisingly.)  This is one of the things I’m really having trouble with, especially at the grocery store.   Buying for one person.  I just can’t make that transition.

@geezerette

Sometimes I look at the food we lug home and wonder: Are we having Wyoming over for dinner?

But we're not wasting as much as we used to now that we keep a specific menu in mind.  What doesn't go into one plan goes right into the next one.
