Skincare can take so long to use up so it's another area that I am trying to just stick with what I like and not stray or get distracted with the "value" options. I'm willing to pay for what works and from experience, if I have only one type of product instead of multiples, I'm more likely to enjoy using it and will use it up. I still find that so ironic. Having less makes me more satisfied than having variety. It took me a long time to realize that.
@Oshare-girl, exactly. Where I would like to get to for skincare too. I haven't found holy grails just yet, which is the problem, but I still don't need every product under the sun at one time. I have a long way to go but I do feel done in this category and I am glad. At the end of the year, I will declutter products that are older and others that I simply won't use.
Makeup though, this is a hard one and I have to painfully admit I bought a palette this month. I was trying not to buy any eyeshadow this year. I have a weakness for eyeshadow palettes. However, I am counting it as one of my two allowed wants this year. I know I won't use up my makeup so I am just having fun with it.
But, I have to say, I am doing pretty good with my product spending so far. Only two products. I couldn't tell you how many things I would of had flowing in if I didn't put the brakes on. I like this path we are on.

Don't berate yourself for not having found your tried-and-true products. As soon as you do, they're discontinued.
I've been perfectly happy with the two Lumene products for my face -- the combination of colorless BB serum and the CC cream -- but it's just not worth it to track down the last ones in existence before they all disappear.
I get the feeling the big CC cream craze is subsiding because they're becoming harder to find. And there's no way I'm going to pay fifty bucks for a BB/CC cream or tinted moisturizer.
I really don't want to go back to foundation. What's so annoying about the disappearance of the two Lumene products was that they were my skincare products, too. My skin definitely improved when I started using these.
I have enough to get me through most of this year, but then I have to go searching again. ![]()

Yep, that is the other problem. The products that I end up loving either are discontinued or the formula changes and for the worse. But that really stinks about Lumene and it is doubly worse because it served a few functions for you. And with results, that is unheard of. Hopefully you will find something equally as good. At least you dont have to think about it until the end of the year.
I have wanted to add a bb cream back in to my routine and I too am not willing to pay 50 bucks for one but I have been on the fence. I have been thinking either a bb cream or a liquid foundation added to my moisturizer, this way I can use it any way I want. We will see. Right now, I will stick with my powder foundation since I have several to go through.
So, how about a liquid foundation added to moisturizer? It would mean you have to use two products but at least it is not full on foundation.

Only if I can't find a CC cream first!

The grass isn't always greener. In fact, sometimes there's no grass at all.
Have you considered a trip to the high desert?
Whoa, looks like a scene from Star Wars!
It's no wonder the aliens landed in this state.
Isn't that amazing?!

I know exactly what you mean. I did the same thing last year. I tricked myself and bought tiny palettes instead of the mega ones, but it was still a palette. I hoped that I would be able to finish a tiny palette in less than a year. But I still haven't come close to hitting pan on them yet. I am still doing my pan-that-palette this year. And I hit pan on a shadow in that palette this month. But I haven't gotten as much use of those tiny palettes I bought last year that I anticipated. Oh the lies I tell myself...

@just bee & @aprilskies I am convinced that these cosmetic companies purposely discontinue our favorite products. They come out with new releases constantly. They have us chasing the carrot. I was so irritated when I saw that my favorite cleansing oil that is being discontinued didn't even have its own description. Instead the company inserted a blurb, something like "if you liked this cleansing oil, you will love our new one". How rude! I like the old one, don't get rid of it.
Hehe, I got the foundation companies beat. As soon as I finish my bases, I'm switching to only using concealer where needed. Change it up as much as you like companies. I don't need it. ![]()

LOL, exactly. The funny part is, I am doing pan that palette by default. My intention was to just enjoy my palettes and not worry about using things up, but every time I do my makeup, I can't help but reach for my oldest palette, which I am considering decluttering at the end of the year. I use a shade out of it. I will say, I haven't used mu in a very long time and I am enjoying using it again. I love the process. I will be decluttering it as I go though. Some things I just don't reach for and, while I like the items, are very old.
Good luck with panning.

Well, it is the end of the month, ladies. I know I say this every month, but I cant believe it. We are 3 months in. My low buy/no buy was good, but not great. And my HEP needs some work. My strategies so far have not been successful so now I think a few drastic measures are in order. I thought I was going in the right direction and the scale this morning tells me othewise. Perhaps, the latest bagels were not a good idea. I will say this, it is hard. Even when I make a salad, I think I am adding too many extras that pack on some calories so even those will have to be made lighter. oy vey.
Well, April is here. I wonder what the weather will hold for us. It is still pretty cold out there.
