I also wanted to mention that I like Minimal May too! Whi...

I also wanted to mention that I like Minimal May too! While there is nothing about our living situation that would be considered minimal, I still continue to work in that direction. I did place an order from Vitacost and ordered some "basics", sunblock for the boys and myself, facial cleanser for am and pm, plus one bottle of lemon scented body lotion for summer. But I am definitely being more Mindful, I Appreciate everything that I have, and I would like to work towards becoming even slightly more Minimal.

I like this.  And definitely some things to strive for.  At least for me.

Re: I also wanted to mention that I like Minimal May too! Whi...

I've been around.  Just not feeling very chatty lately, and about the only compacting I've been doing is in my mind.  So not much to write about.

I did manage to finish the big bottle of pure grace shampoo I've been using for hand washing.  It was with a small sense of accomplishment that I tossed that empty bottle in the trash.  Now I'm using purity for my hand wash.  I decided I need a new face cleanser and after using the purity on my hands and seeing how the cuticles are drying and my fingers cracking, I'm thinking I should have ditched it a long time ago.

Another thing I tossed was my original Clarisonic.  It finally gave up the ghost, but of course, I had a backup!  (The trouble with stuff is that you always need backup stuff.)  I'm going to try doing without the Clarisonic for a while to see if I can get by without one.  Not only do I want to minimize my gadgets, but those brushes are getting expensive.  I just don't want to mess with that stuff anymore.  I keep having dreams of watching my mother wash her face with a cheap bar of soap.  She didn't even use a moisturizer until late in life when they moved to the desert.  She had beautiful skin.

@geezerette

I turned on purity made simple when I realized I was looking a little too much like Robert Redford (i.e., a day-old glazed donut).  Used it to wash my makeup brushes after that.  Now I don't even use brushes.

I still like the combo of Paula's Choice cleanser and my Konjac sponge.  My mother didn't use any fancy skin care products, either.  Just a bar of Ivory.

Makes you wonder sometimes...

Re: I also wanted to mention that I like Minimal May too! Whi...

I have made a few purchases that I could have done without, but found myself just having to purchase something.  I got a JM spf and a Laura Geller tahitian glow, but it is time to get back with the program.  I was traveling with my DH and found myself in the Ulta for lack of something to do while he was working so I tried the JM and then at Belk, I had to try the tahitian glow.  I do like both products, and I did need spf, but I am still feeling that 'just wanting to buy something' urge.  I am still working on my clothes closet and finishing up beauty products.  I have several items on end, but I am still so amazed at how long things last.

I am so appreciate for all of you being here, and I really needed to check in and just let you know how I so appreciate all of you.  Happy Monday.

Backatcha!

And, yes, it really is amazing how long things last.  I'm not OCD (if I was, I wouldn't be sitting here surrounded by dog toys), but I keep emailed confirmations of online orders.  I am down to the last of my Lumene products -- the ones I love and that are being discontinued -- and I'm shocked at the order date.

Sure, I bought multiples (big sale, free shipping), but I didn't think I'd had these so long.  And I still have two unopened products.

And it's just so odd that we complain about a product that lasts a long time.  There has to be a corresponding mental disorder.

Re: ComPact 2017 – Appreciative April!

Oh no, this thread cannot go into extinction!

@aprilskies I found out that the Drunk Elephant packaging can be opened so that you can see how much product is left!  I follow Gothamista on instagram and she showed how the top can be pulled off.  Inside the opaque packing is a clear tube that is pushed up from the bottom so I know that all the product gets used up.  So neat!  I just checked my C-Firma serum and have about .5 inch of product left.  Still a lot to finish.

@Oshare-girl,Thanks for letting me know. I will need to try it.  Although, I have a feeling I still have most of it. I had another c serum I was working on more because of the quicker expiration and now that I have tossed it last month I believe, I can focus on this one and start using it every 2 or 3 days.  I do like the airtight packaging, doesnt make me feel I am in a race against time.

My problem is that I have so many other different type products and I get a little weary on using everything on my face. I am currently so close on several products and one serum in particular, I cant wait to toss the empty bottle. I liked it, not necessarily a love, but it is a few years old I think and who knows if it is even still effective.   But I have a few other serums in this situation so....  But, my next main focus will be my drunken elephant because no way am I letting this linger without using.

Anyway, I digress, thanks for the tip.  I love to see where I am with the products and it is good to know I can take the top off of this one.

Yea, me too.  .....and compacting the mind - I have been trying to do the same thing, it is not easy though.  How has it been going?

All I know is the rest of my family, mom and all, do not do anything to their faces other than wash it and their skin is great.  My mom has only started moisturizing herself the last maybe 10 years due to skin conditions, other than that, never. This is my use up year, after the year is up, I will decide what I want to use and what I am ready to let go of. I want to go back to the basics but always seem like I am working through a mountain of stuff.  All of these products/steps are so unnecessary.

Your post really made me giggle. I can so relate, I go through the same thing.  Yes, sometimes it isnt even about the particular product, it is just buying something. I, too, struggle with that "just buying urge."  I keep waiting for it to get better, but it is a struggle. I am not giving up though. This year, while not a total success, is a success for me so far. I have bought a handful of products vs a truck load. So, that is a start. I just have to keep strong and keep my vision in mind.  Although, I suddenly find myself with several small gadgets of sorts so I have to be careful I dont let it transfer to others things, which normally happens.  So, time to readjust again.

Enjoy you purchases.  They sound like products you will use.
