On the no-buy front, I have not purchased one single beauty product this month.  No mu or skincare.  It feels awesome to not add to my collection.  So, this no buy was successful.  I am going to continue it in Sept. I would claim a total no buy but I do need clothes and shoes and need to spruce up my home a little bit. So some home decor is in order. After decluttering and revamping, it is looking kinda drab so need to liven it up a little bit. Although, I won't be overdoing it either.  I am looking forward to Sept.

On the use up front, just a hand cream.  Pulled another from my stash.  I haven't really been using a lot of stuff and need to start being more diligent so I can get through some products.  I have also stopped using so much lotion.  Now I only use it where I need it instead of slathering it all over.  I am sure I will need it more in the winter.

Summer went so fast but I am looking forward to Fall.

I'm bad about just popping in sporadically but wanted to congratulate you @aprilskies (along with the other ComPacters) on your August no buy!  I made up for what you all didn't buy in August 😔.  Keep the momentum going!

I haven't been checking in regularly on the forum except to post empties.  I didn't do stellar on the no-buy-Aug...but back in the saddle it is.  I was able to finish several big things (Ambient Lighting palette, ColourPop lippie, IT CC+ cream, L'Occitane fragrance), plus it's the end of my summer "season" makeup capsule.  So I will be moving on to my fall seasonal makeup capsule tomorrow, that's always exciting.

As I have been using up my products, I'm realizing that what used to work for me a couple of years ago when I bought the poducts, no longer work for me now.  Another reason to not stock up on things, even my favorites.  Our bodies change and add that to the aging products, it's not a good combination.

I've also been using things out of habit such as body lotion in the summer.  Like Aprilskies said, it's really not necessary for me to put it all over me during the summer.  I just do it out of habit, which started because I was trying to use up my lotion stash.  Now that I have a manageable, "normal" amount of lotion, I should use it as needed.  I'll try to start that tonight.

Tomorrow I'm going to start using the IT Redness Reducer as my base since I've finished the CC+ Cream.  I'm wondering if it's going to make a difference in my skin.  I noticed that at the end of the day, I have small itchy patches on my face.  I suspect it's the CC+ cream.  But I didn't want to stop using the CC+ cream until I finished it.  I can be stubborn like that.

Have your neck of the woods been cooling off yet?  It hasn't for me and we have 2 hurricanes headed our way.  Hopefully they blow themselves out at sea.  My roof is still leaking and I'm dreading a hurricane or tropical storm.  We also have the IUCN world convention in town and President Obama is due to arrive soon so the traffic is horrible.  Oahu seems even smaller when there's a convention in town and the roads are shut down in preparation for the President...  Sorry for the downer news....from "paradise".

Love the pictures of the pets!  That always makes me feel better.

I ended up blowing the August no buy, with only about 4 days left in the month! My local Rite Aid was having 40% off Wet N Wild products and I had gotten coupons in the mail too. I wanted to try some of their gel nail polishes so I ended up getting 3 nail polishes and a mascara. I only spent $5.56 for all 4 items, and I tossed 5 nailpolishes and a mascara, so I still came out ahead.

I've been having a horrible time this summer with my skin. I've been trying to make the switch to cruelty free products and I don't think my skin is agreeing with my choices. I've been breaking out like crazy, zits all over the place, and I usually have dry skin and rarely break out, maybe a few times a year. I'm not quite sure what to do. Part of me wants to go back to my staples and see if my skin will get back to normal, but I don't want to consciously support animal testing either. Plus I have tons of products here to try to use up too. I really stocked up during the SKINN anniversary sale and I'm not sure if I even like the products. I thought I did at first, but now I'm not so sure. Another reason not to stock up on products that I haven't even tried!  Dumb, dumb, dumb. Lesson learned but I am really kicking myself. If I want to try something new buy one set, use it, if I don't like it, return it. It's too late to even return any of it now, the sale was in July. Sigh.

We did some back to school shopping and are continuing to work on whole house decluttering. I can't believe that I'm still finding items to declutter! I have two bags ready to go again, one to Salvation Army, one a bag of kids clothes to go to a girl at work. It is definitely a never ending process. I'm looking forward to getting the kids and hubby back to school so I can really get the house in order. It's so hard when everyone is home. It usually takes me a month or so after everyone goes back, working here and there on my days off, to get things back the way I like itSmiley Happy which is basically just a little more clean and organized.

aprilskies- great job on the no buy!  It doesn't sound like it should be so hard in theory, but in reality it's tough! I caved! I will try again in September to not buy any useless items but I might have to look for a new makeup remover, even though I have some cleansers here, just because my skin is such a mess. I want to look for a Ponds knock off, I loved  my Ponds cold cream cleanser for makeup removal but gave it up because it's not cruety free. I'm thinking of trying the Signature Club A meltdowns. I think I'm going to need shower gel for the kids and hubby, they are both almost out. That's all I can think of for now, but you never know!

Oshare-girl- it's still really hot in my neck of the woods! The kids go back to school next week and it's supposed to be mid 80's. We don't have any air conditioning in the schools so I feel bad for them, they're going to be miserable. I'm looking forward to a slight cool down. I hate winter, but 60's-70's would be a nice change
