The barn owl saga continues!  I'm going to miss this family once they all leave home.

How did such homely little creatures turn into such beautiful owls?

My family thinks it is so funny (and perhaps a little weird) that I visit the owls' nest a few times each day.  They bring me peace.  On my phone I have saved the picture of the three oldest owls in defense position with the youngest owl peering over them.  If the website decides to sell this photo as a great quality print, I will buy it.

How did you all do on HSN Beauty Day with all that free shipping and deals? I held strong!!! Although there was a super deal on Korres shower gel in a scent I love, I said NOOOOOOO!!! Then rocked myself as I cried LOL. The hair today special was a little tempting just to try the line but after looking online to see the sizes of the containers, it was easy to say no. I have long hair so that cleansing foam stuff wouldn't last very long at all! I do have a major temptation today for a purchase.....QVC's Travelon purse....I've wanted one for a couple years now. I borrowed my sister's purse when I was on my last trip and it was great size! I'm not a purse collector by any means - own 2. I use them to death. Neither are a basic black which would be the color I would buy if I get the TS today. I told myself if it's still available once I get home from work today, I will get it since it's an item I will USE and not get washed down the drain literally like shower gels etc. Isn't it bizarre that I was debating about getting the hair special which was $39 and this purse would be around the same price with shipping??? how screwed up is the thinking that I could try to rationalize getting hair products but then debate about getting a purse which would be used tons and probably for months if not years?

geezerette, thank you for the well wishes.  Everything is going well.  We got in a week ago today, and I can't believe in that short time our furniture has been delivered and my husbands car has been delivered.  Direct TV and Comcast for internet is  all set up. Our dog has settled in too.  We haven't had time to really explore our new surroundings but we have the rest of our lives to do so!

Welcome to the heat wave!  Hopefully this will pass and we can get back to our monsoon season.  Have you had a chance to explore the bosque?

Good going, Findmyjoy, I held out on the hsn beauty day too.  I didnt even look. But, I didnt look only because I know what they have and I didnt need to see any special pricing, it would of thrown me over. lol.  I went sniffing out a hair serum by suzanne somers that is being talked about on the beauty board.  I dont really need another hair product but I am having hair issues and I am getting a bit desparate. However, I wasnt willing to part with 50 bucks (including s&h).  I still might though, I need to think about it.

The purse sounds like a reasonable purchase and something you will use.  I think that qualifies as a "different" purchase and I wouldnt think twice about it if you really want it. Although, you bring up a good point.  I did the same with a computer purchase last year.  I need a new computer but the one I want is quite expensive. So, I was trying to think through that purchase, sometimes, I tend to buy the top of the line and dont really all the capabilites and bells and whistles.  However, I got cheap in giving the money for the computer and instead it all went to mostly skincare and some mu.  I would of rather had the computer. So, yes, it is quite interesting how we rationalize the purchases.

Besides one product and a few microfiber cloths, I had no other purchases in July. We still have a few days to go and I might cave for the hair serum, but I feel pretty good for the month.

Just popping in to say hello but to, also, share something I read a few days ago that made me go "ah ha."  I try and just pop around some decluttering/minimalism sites so I can keep myself on track and here is a quip I picked up - Declutter your mind from what every one else thinks of you!!  This to me is powerful because it is something I think about but cant seem to get a handle on. Although, I am slowly making strides of letting "others" thoughts go, both at work and personal.

Excellent advice!  And something I've tried to do for years, with varying degrees of success.  And it does go right along with decluttering your environment.  I think it becomes somwhat easier as I get older.  Or maybe it's because I just don't have enough energy anymore to give a darn what other people think of me

Lol, geezerette.  I agree and am getting there myself.  I find it to be a slower process but making progress.

Hello All,
I have just returned from an 18 day trip back to visit family that are 1500 miles away. Good news is that I brought out a trunk load of stuff and gave it to family. The funny story, and not in a good way funny, was the full set of pots and pans that I brought out. During my garage cleaning frenzy I got rid of a set of Faberware pans. I knew from looking at pans in at Macy's that Faberware was made in China and I wanted made in the USA pans. So as my family was looking at them I noticed the made in the USA stamp. Who know that 13 years ago Faberware was made in the USA. So back home they came. I hauled a set of pans over 3000 miles. I also helped my best friend clean a little bit in her house. Her house looks like a house on Hoarders. It was so sad. Again made me realize that stuff is just stuff, and in her case that stuff is making her and her husband unhealthy.
I enjoyed catching up with all your stories

I just checked my cookware.  Made in China.  I thought my death might come from lipstick poisoning. Now, it could be from cookware cancer. Smiley LOL

I caved.  Not in a bad way, but I caved nonetheless.  Remember when I went through my curling irons.  Well, one of the irons that I kept was a flat iron.  It is a terrible flat iron because it leaves those telltale girl-you-just-flat-ironed-your-hair creases due to the plates being locked in place.  I kept it since it was the only flat iron I own.  So.  Martino was on last night with a flat iron that looked nice.  There was a $10 off coupon and free shipping.  So a new and hopefully better flat iron is on its way to me.  If I like it, I'll toss or maybe donate the one in my cabinet.

About the Travelon purse, I would buy it, FMJ.  You do not have a purse problem, and this will be used for many years.  Whenever I take a tourist-y type trip, I always use a crossbody nylon bag.  I would not be without it.  Great for amusement parks, too.  I vote for you to click "Submit Order."
