woohoooo! I feel absolutely NO temptation at all by the Laura Geller TSV! Have I finally figured out what I really want in makeup?? Have I hit saturation point? I have NO desire for it. I fight shine alrmeeady and don't want to intentionally add more LOL.

Me either. No temptation at all. I do love how pretty the eyeshadow looks. Love when they make designs in the products.

After throwing out several products last week, I have no desire to buy anything until I really whittle things down.  I vowed to not throw out anything again but the reality is I just won't use them and I got tired of being overwhelmed when I came across them. I took some to work and others I just tossed. I could probably do another round.

I have not purchased a single product in August and will do the same in September unless it is something I am replacing.

I am all out of shower gel and started using a dr bronners because I have had this bottle for a couple of years now. I am not sure how I like it for showering but I am going to work with it and see about mixing it with other things. It feels so good to start using something I have been staring at for years.

Re: ,Re: ComPact 2015 -- August

Just recently, JCPs was having a extra sale in their clearance items.  My engines revved and then I took a minute to think through that whole experience of going browsing and then it dawned on me that there will be plenty of sales going forward.  I am finally thinking through my purchases these days and I can't tell you how many times it has saved me.

Also, everything I bought this year, I am using. Nothing is collecting dust in a corner. Whoohoo.  The only things excluded are products. Had a bit of a problem in this category but got it under control.

Someone raised the question of how this thread helped, Dosey, I think it was you and it has helped tremendously. I don't put on my running shoes at the word sale, although, love my sales, and I think through my purchases.  I even think through of how I would get rid of something when the time comes.  It has saved me from many purchases.

Thank you Compact.  I really appreciate you ladies.

Aprilskies - You have done GREAT for August!!! I'm already starting to think of September goals and I may copy you and try a no buy for the month.

Dosey - What you going to do with your new collection of collectibles? Is her hoard going to slowly become yours?

My mom has a collection of random knick knacks and plates. I always hated having the job of dusting them when I was a kid so I have no desire to ever get them when the time comes.

I received all of my Isomers packages. I know I'll like them and use them but I definitely went overboard this visit. I will need to do a no skincare buying as a goal for September. The one good thing so far re skincare sales? I've avoided buying anything from Paula's Choice's sale! I know it's not yet over but I feel safe that I won't buy since I did items in a prior sale so I have no need of adding to that stash.

Gosh!  I hope my MIL isn't going to send me everything. I need to call my SIL and see if she received anything.  I put the knick knacks in the garage.  When my MIL visits, I'll put the stuff on display.  I am a little mad.  I told her, just like everyone else in the family did, that I didn't want anything.  I am sure she remembers because her memory is sharp.

I have a few brown bottles, too.  Enough to last for a while.  I've never ordered anything from Paula's Choice and have read about it a lot on this board, so I took a look.  Her cleansers are much larger than Isomers.  A great value.  Isomers C cleanser is only 4 oz.  When I am low on Isomers, I think I will order some samples, but that is months away.

I've been using her cleansers for several years and those bottles last a good long time.

Remember that you can always use a "meh" shower gel as hand soap.  That little trick has been the most helpful in reducing my stash.  Finally making progress in that department.

Hi everyone,

I've been absent from the board for several days and had a lot of catching up to do!

Just bee - have you been checking the owl cams?  I haven't been able to catch them "live" but it's nice that the parents are visiting the box again.  I miss the young ones though.  I wonder how they are doing.

dosey - I'm so sorry to read about the accident.  How scary.  You were quite lucky to be hit from behind and not head on or t-boned.  Is your son physically okay?

Update on the job situation - I had a 2nd interview this morning though not at the long term care facility.  I haven't heard from them so that's God's message to me that the one I had this morning was in His plan.  It was between the 2 jobs anyway and there were pros and cons to each.  The cons to this is that it doesn't offer as much paid time off as the long term care facility and it's in a somewhat sketchy area.  However, the hours are much better and it's about 12 miles shorter of a commute each way than the long term care facility. I know my references are being checked since one of my references was contacted and let me know  Smiley Very Happy  May I please still ask for prayers and good thoughts though as "it ain't over 'til it's over".  Pay hasn't been discussed but I do know the range.  A bit of a pay cut but quality of life for me and DH will be better because of the better working hours.  I'll keep y'all updated!

I still have to check out this Isomers of which a lot of you speak!  Well, maybe next year after I've used 2 of my Miracle Worker kits...lol

Have a lovely day everyone!

YES!  I've been tuning into the cams and watching the cozy couple.  I just discovered the new cam this week: CONDOR CAM!

Prayers and good thoughts are headed your way.  Here's hoping that the job you want is the job you get.  A shorter commute and better hours doesn't sound so bad...  Quality of life improved?  Winner-winner chicken dinner!

Hello All,

BF and I went to view the falls yesterday. The only thing I bought TEA.  it is truly an addiction.

The next is a tea review since Just Bee asked. Skip if you are not interested.

The Cup and Kettle in Leavenworth:

Milma Estate GFOP-- this is a single estate black tea from Kenya that is a HG for me. Strong.

Tiger Hill Estate BOP-- this is a single estate from Nilgiri. I like tea from this region and I like this one.

I like the tea but the service was beyond bad. I would be very hesitant to order from them.

Cha Fine Teas from Wenatchee

Earl Grey la Creme--this is the first Creme tea that really has a creamy taste. Light on the bergamot flavoring.

Republic of Tea

Frost Tea--single estate tea from Nilgiri. My friend loved it. I am going to have to try another pot and play with the steep time. Does taste different from the previous Nilgiri tea. This one is pricey because it is hard to grow tea in frost regions.

Stash

Moroccan Mint Iced Tea--this is green tea with mint added. It is meant to be cold brewed and I love it on a hot summer day.

Salted Popcorn--a green tea with popcorn. Not thrilled. I will stick with toasted rice rather than popcorn.

Enjoy all your teas.

Interesting!  I still haven't tried all my new ones but I'm liking the variety so far.  I seem to have collected quite a few fruit teas recently.  They're not awful.  It's really the scent of tea that attracts me.  And now there's so much mixed with the leaves to make it look pretty (flowers, chunks of fruit).  I also like the variation in colors.  I tend to like the "reddish" teas.  I generally don't care for green tea, but I did order one with coconut and vanilla.  Haven't tried it yet, but I can't see how anything with vanilla and coconut could be bad.

Too funny, but thinking I should make a mental note that my kids will not want my stuff when I declutter.  I would be the one, not wanting to part with stuff, to gift it to the kids.  They   haven't asked for anything I have yet, so perhaps that is a lightbulb moment.

I am glad you are able to get your car repairs resolved, but such a hazzle.

Good morning everyone. So many positive moments on the family, job interviews, and decluttering fronts. I find my psychology interesting. Someone mentioned the patterns in make-up. I am so attracted to patterns in make-up. I loved the leaf pattern in the Laura Gellar TSV. I love the flower in Clinique blushes. If either of these were plain, I would not give them a second glance. Companies sure know their shoppers weaknesses.
