Re: ComPact 2014 -- September

Hello Ladies, Just checking in. I did purchase 3 Elf brushes at Big Lots and a pink nail polish that I have been wanting. I continue to use the rest of my beauty stash and felt the brushes helped me use what I have. I still have so much stuff--what was I thinking? I use the stuff every day, but I still seem so slow to empty anything. Auto Delivery was not my friend. I hope all are doing well. Still a work in progress.

If you haven't found a de-cluttering site you like yet, you might want to check this one. It's got 15 minute daily missions; Home Storage Solutions 101 (October schedule here).

I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm actually starting to enjoy de-cluttering. I took a large box of household items and clothes to Good Will just this morning. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Thanks for the suggestion! I came across a great mantra I wanted to share: Start where you are/Use what you have/Do what you can. I think I've repeated it to myself a hundred times in the past few days. To me, it applies in so many ways. Happy weekend to all

Re: ComPact 2014 -- September

So, I was a little bored tonight so decided to go to the mall and about. All I can say is that shopping isnt as much fun when you are not buying on impulse. LOL. I did find a couple of things that I would of bought but they didnt have my size. Not meant to be I guess and that is okay too. Its amazing, so far this year, I have only purchased a hoodie which I wear for errands in the winter and a pair of leggings. I am amazed. I use to come home with a bag or two everyday. It is quite liberating, not only from not having to deal with all the bags, but finding room for it all.

Decluttering gets to be very enjoyable, Eager. In this next layer, I am letting go of kitchen appliances, bakeware, all things kitchen really. And this is huge for me. Up until now, I havent been able to part with anything kitchen related. Some collectibles are making it into this pile as well along with a variety of other things. I think the reason is that I am going to try and consign some of this stuff so I think it is making it a little easier to let go. I dont know what it is but I am thrilled. I am starting to get weak on some stuff so I need to stay strong. I have never consigned before so I am hoping its a good experience because if it is, I have so much more I can take. But who knows, what will make it into the pile, I am getting braver everyday.

New month, and soon a new season. August went by so quickly -- that had to be a record breaker. So, after so many months (years?) of ComPacting, I see the most success by stopping the flow. By just not introducing new items, I can see and feel the difference.

Biggest success? Resisting the urge to overbuy beauty items. I feel that I've finally reached the point where I can do without. I have assembled the items that work best and that I use most. Life is easier.

Unfortunately I still have all the items I'd collected before I "enlightened" myself. Still applying the "one-by-one" rule. It works.

What has made the biggest difference for you?

Hi All!

About a week ago I had answered bee's question in a long post and when I went to post it I lost it. So frustrating! So I'll try again in a short post!

First of all welcome to the new compactors!!

The biggest difference for me has been this thread and all of you! I love the accountablity and the comaradry. I love not being judged when I mess up, being supported when the urge to buy becomes strong. Hearing of all your accomplishments makes me feel so good! I love rooting for all of you and the knowing your rooting for me too.

I love that you all get it, and know how hard it can be. So thank you ALL for this journey that we are sharing together. Thanks for all the tips and encouragement. And bee a special thank you to you for leading the way and always being there no matter how busy you are. My heartfelt thanks to you all!! Hugs, Kathie

I like the whole 15-minute idea. The mood strikes, it's spontaneous, and you can see quick results.
