I just lost products too easily in there, so just kept reaching got the same things. I was starting to get bored and miss some of my stuff!! I REALLY want the muji 5- drawer acrylic set, but it's never in stock. To be honest, when it comes in stock, I'll probably buy two. They just look so much nicer than the plastic stuff, but for $8, it was worth it -- for now.So, I got rid of a bag of stuff. Some to give my mom, some to chunk. It does look much neater and I just feel like I'll be using more things. I also found some things from kits I'd been meaning to sell, so I'll do that this week. Overall, it just feels and looks better. Oh, I went through the bottom (oft neglected) cabinets in the pantry at about 10 last night. Today, while I was "getting after it" and chunking stuff here and there, hubby said, "why are you on a rampage to get rid of things???" Let's just say I had a pretty rough day, so I was great therapy to rid my life of unneeded C R @ P!!!!! Since I've basically gone through the house, there's no telling what's next........
I have never heard of Muji, so I googled it. Those are nice. Very sleek.

I know what temps me online so I am staying away from presentations & even checking to see what is for sale. I don't even want to know what new products are coming out. I don't want to buy.
This is critical for me. If I do not know it exists, then I do not want it. Ignorance IS bliss!
I mentioned that Sephora in JCP sent me a card for a free lip gloss. It was also an advertisement for new lip products in their store. When DD and I were back-to-school shopping, we stopped by. I tried the new products and liked a few but managed to leave without buying anything. Quite remarkable. I also left without the free lip gloss. Quite forgetful.

I love the closet ideas! It really is true. Keep what you love & wear. Even if something is new & has the tags on it, if you keep choosing other things to wear and the tags are still on months later, get rid of it. When I started losing weight & was going through old clothes that had been too small I found a few things that still had tags on them. I thought I'd wear them but some lost their appeal over the years. and some things I had loved wearing just looked dated to me. I struggled for a while but finally donated or took them to consignment. I realized I was never going to wear them.
Shoes are hard to get rid off! I really have no choice because my feet shrunk but it is still tough. I have a few pairs of like new ones waiting to be taken to consignment when they start taking fall clothes but that will be the last of the ones I need to get rid of. Most were tossed earlier in the year. I think 2 pairs went to consignment. If the shoes still fit I am sure they'd still be in my closet but I have never had tons of shoes. That may happen next year though... lol...
Isn't it funny how that happens? People say buy timeless classics, and they won't go out of style. I question that because I have found that basics do go out of style. It could be just the smallest detail, like a pleat. The last pair of black pants I bought replaced a pair with legs that I thought were just too wide. I bought a pair that sits at the natural waist, has no pleats, and has straight legs. This seems as basic as a black pants can get, and I hope they get a lot of wear.

I love Alegria but cannot wear them. My feet are big, and Alegria's make them look even bigger in the toe area. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious at my age, but I am. Because I wear flats with slim jeans, I want a pair that doesn't call attention to my feet.
When I first started buying them their sizes were WAY off. I have a couple pairs that are enormous on me -- absolute Bozo shoes. But I still wear them. Even though I keep catching them out of the corner of my eye.
I figure as long as I don't trip I'm okay. But I do feel like I'm perched on skateboards.

This morning, in the shower I shampooed and towel dried my hair. Then I grabbed the new conditioner and applied. To my surprise, the conditioner started foaming. I thought wow, that's different!
Well, I just went to take a better look at my new conditioner. You guessed it! It's shampoo!
Now, I'm wondering, if I shampooed twice and didn't use conditioner today and my hair looked good, why am I using conditioner?
I only use conditioner on the ends of my hair as a detangler. In the evening, I put a tiny bit of oil (some L'Oreal blend) on my hair before I go to sleep, and it has eliminated the need for a deep conditioner.

When I have to pick up a prescription, I have to check all the beauty items in that aisle on my way to the pharmacy. I can look on line for hours, which is a waste of time in itself. I don't see this going away but am, thankfully, able to think about it before I purchase and remind myself that I have the same thing at home in my stash. Good luck, ladies.
Did I write this post? No, I did not, but I could have.
This month has been so tempting. Usually July isn't my favorite month to shop, but there have been so many bargains out there. I almost bought two faux leather jackets from Giuliana the other night. Seriously, they were in my cart. Fortunately, I checked the measurements, and one of them was entirely too short. I would have looked like I was wearing a doll's jacket. The other would probably fit, but it is new. I know it will go on clearance. I do not need it now, and chances are I will decide that I do not need it at all if I just wait.
Isomers had a huge Christmas in July 75% off sale. I found two things that I wanted to try. So inexpensive! Why not, right? I gave myself some time to think about it. When I checked back, both things were sold out. So were a lot of other things, too! Did I really need another eye cream and face serum? NO!!!!!
Also, Talbot's had a 50% off everything sale. I did not go. I told myself that back-to-school comes first. Besides, my life is in limbo. I must find a good full-time job soon. I cannot be buying for the casual life that I have now just in case I find a job that requires me to dress in business clothes.
I could go on, but you all get the picture. The sales in July have been tempting.
Yep, I can waste an hour in CVS, too. No more!

I was a couple pages in before the light bulb went off. This is me! I got out everything from my stash and looked at it. Really looked at it. I stopped buying body wash then ( darn philosophy for making me want every scent!) and this month was a victory. I opened the last body wash in my stash. Thank you ladies for the tip to use as hand soap or I might have been another 6 months! Reading your victories has helped me to be mindful of my shopping and am only replacing things from my stash instead of trying the next thing that doesn't work. For example, I tried a BM eye cream and did not like it, so into the stash it went. When I finished my neck cream I searched my stash and came up with this forgotten eye cream. Guess what! I loved this eye cream for the neck area! Perfect. I have also gifted unopened makeup to my niece. It was hard to gather it up, but once it was gone, I felt so free! Why, oh why, did I ever think I needed to hoard 2-3 of everything? So I just wanted to thank you lovelies for posting inspiration for all of us "lurkers" on the boards. Jeannie
