Thanks, Bee. I believe you are right.

I think I need to find a way to just let the stress go & then I'll feel able to get things accomplished. It is sneaky stress. I know there is nothing I can do to control the situations (yep, more than one) so I am not trying to figure that out yet I still feel stuck in fight or flight mode.

Breathe and let it go. Wave. Say bye-bye. Now take the afternoon off and do something fun. Any old Doris movies on today?

Bee-- whichever oil you choose I hope it helps w/the 'creaks'. My Mum took cod liver oil every day for her rheumatoid arthritis. (a couple of spoonfuls-- tasty not-- no caps back then) Willdob-- I hope that the stresses lessen & the 'black clouds' lift. But I understand the feeling you describe. It's wick-d. Still love Bee's 'whatever will be will be'. I use the Beatles 'Let It Be' to calm me. Wonder if these 2 songs were combined? Hmmm.

I feel paralyzed by stress.

Too much negativity out of my control things going on in my life. I need to get a ton of work done on my room today but I just feel glued to my seat. It feels like I am tied to the railroad tracks just waiting for a train to come down the tracks...

Well, not sure of the origin of the stress situations, but I think you've got a lot of good advice above. Many times we can really stress ourselves out over things that we really don't have a lot of control over. I hope things brighten up for you and some of those clouds move down the road. I would also say only work on the room if it improves your stress level! Wink

just bee, I finally made it to TJ Maxx and they had one box of (40) Yorkshire Red teabags. The shelves were nearly bare there in all departments. Less merchandise than I had ever seen there. Oh my, the tea is absolutely delicious !!!!! My first cup of many to come. I like it better than the Gold. Thanks so much.

That is so funny because I looked at my TJ Maxx where I hadn't been in ages, but there was no Yorkshire tea, read or gold. My loss... I did however buy a package of pretty file folders for work since I needed more (I know I don't need the ones with peacocks, but I like them) and a bar of moonflower soap that smells yummy since my smell good bath bar is almost gone. Maybe next time for me & the tea. I can just imagine us all over the country sipping on a delightful cup of tea.

That would actually be pretty cool - to travel the country with a friend or two sipping tea and finding great little eateries. ... traveling the world even.

IDK. School nurse? Visiting nurse? Maybe time to plan for a new dream job.(?) I can think of someone (an acquaintance) I know who left the 'best hospital in town' b/c she couldn't stand it. Now she travels to people's homes/apts., & she seems so much happier. Her time is her own plus she gets to spend time with some of her special clients. Years ago my sister left the hospital system-- many reasons-- & went into private duty nursing. She loved working one-on-one w/her patients in their own homes. You will figure it out. I just know it!

Thanks for the encouragement. What's funny about nursing is that if you spoke with the average nurse you would discover that he/she had worked in just about every area of nursing during his/her career. In most professions that would be suspect. Ah, you're a job-hopper.

But I guess it's not considered job-hopping when you're a nurse. Most areas of nursing burn out a person in 3 to 5 years and they have to move on. Just have to find my niche, I guess.

Don't give up, Just Bee!! You may even find that one of those areas of nursing that have high burnout rates is just the one for you. (Even if it isn't, there are so many areas of nursing you can move on to each time you feel restless and "done." Transitioning may or may not require extra schooling, but extra schooling is better than staying stuck at a job you hate for a prolonged period of time, right?)

My best friend (in her 50s) was a hospice nurse for 30 years. I'm not sure how many people do that sort of nursing long-term, but she was just cut out for it, I guess. The only reason she isn't working now is that she's been on disability since she suffered AML and had a bone-marrow transplant. If she is ever able to go back to work, I suspect she will be happy to go back to hospice nursing. Her positive outlook regarding all that she has been through would be an asset wherever she [potentially] works in the future.

I think you're right about not being labeled a "job-hopper" though. Nurses can easily become psychologically exhausted. I believe it's because most nurses care enough to be bothered by some of the horrible things they see. Empathy is both their strength and their weakness. It makes perfect sense to me that many people in nursing choose to change course every 3-5 years.

I feel that my friend survived as long as she did in hospice because she has certain religious beliefs that give her hope regarding death, and what comes after death. I also think that some career paths are chosen by certain people because they know they have an ability to overlook things (unpleasant aspects) of a job that other people are tormented by.

When you hear others speak about what they "can't stand," and you don't understand why...you may have found a lead on what it is that you can contribute that others cannot.

I often hear people at my work talk about things they hate about the job...and my list of things I hate is often different than theirs. We all vary...which is great, because everyone is cut out for something different.

I hope you find something that is the right fit for you!!!

Do you have a World Market (Cost Plus) near you? Great selection of teas there and I'm waiting for their next 50% off sale to stock up. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

It surprises me that I am privy to some revolting details about my patients and I don't run out of the building. Oddly, they are the things I cannot tolerate: Animal, child, and elder abuse.

Is it a form of compartmentalizing?

Our World Market closed a couple of years ago. I used to buy the Republic Teas there in the round tins. I have ordered some teas from Twinings in the cute tins. I have also purchased the London Cuppa Tea at TJ Maxx. It's good too. TJ's usually has a huge assortment of coffees and teas but they were out of everything yesterday.
