Hi bee,

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling good bee.

I just wanted to say that having posted with you here on the boards for a couple years now, I think you are one of the nicest posters I know. I have been so proud of you for all you have accomplished. You would not be the person you are if this job did not affect you so.

Remember, you were lead there for a reason, your presence there has helped someone somehow. If its making your heart hurt bee then your work is done there and its time to move on. Your expertise and kindness are needed somewhere else, you will find your place where you were meant to be, this is a sign that its not where you currently are.

I understand your prefence to work with that generation, my sister is in the medical field, and that generation is her passion too. I on the other hand love kids and work with kids on the autism spectrum in the education field.

I don't know how you feel about it but I really think you would be wonderful in the hospice area. You would be an angel to the patients and their families. Also, I can really see you with therapy dogs is their someway you could make that a part of your nursing career?

Hugs to you my friend. Sorry you missed your concert. Be good to yourself today, drink some tea and kiss and hug that dog of yours. And remember somewhere down the road some lucky patient is waiting for you to make a difference in their life. Stay strong my friend! You will find your way.

Aw, shucks, you guys... {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

When I was going through nursing school, the majority of my classmates knew precisely where they wanted to work. L&D or nothing! Only the ER for me!

I had no clue. My preferences were geriatrics, psych, and hospice. Now there's an uplifting selection! When I was interviewed for kiddie psych I was excited because the therapy dogs were often on-site with the kids. Then I was told by the person giving me the tour that they had to keep a close eye on the kids when the dogs came in because the patients would do terrible things to the dogs. I scratched kiddie psych off my list at that point.

So I'm in adult psych where we still see some children and the stories I hear from patients would curdle your half and half. I can see how this will affect my well-being over time. As a tech I worked with infants and people would always say that I must have the best job in the world. But many of those babies were born to unstable, drug-addicted mothers and their futures looked bleak.

I don't think there's a perfect spot out there. This will require some searching. The only problem is that I don't have forty years to put into seeking.

You will find your way bee! Positive thoughts go out to you that you will find something right for you and fast.

Never would have thought that about the therapy dogs. Geez! Poor doggies!

My only experience has been dogs for kids with autism. The dogs are so awesome and give the parents piece of mind keeping the kids safe. One family's life has been completely changed by their dog. He sleeps with the child and will alert the parents when the child gets up in the middle of the night. Before the dog this child was such a saftey risk. I also have a friend who has fostered for guiding eyes for the blind. Dogs are certainly amazing!!

I know hospice would be hard but like I said I can see you doing that. It takes special people. Nursing takes special people!

I hope the right door for you opens and quickly my friend. Hugs to you. Feel better! Sending you virtual chicken soup!!

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Hey everyone. I'm home with the flu, feeling pretty wiped out. My circuit right now is couch to bed to medicine cabinet. I don't ordinarily take medicines, but this high fever has me a little freaked out, so I'm taking something to keep that in check. At least it warmed up a little bit today. I'll get back to the one room challenge this weekend, I guess.

My purchasing has been practically nil, except I did order and have already received the Carolyn Pollack cuff. It will be my one splurge for the month.

I've been reading the boards off and on, and am still stunned by some of the things that people write, whether in response to another post or just plain out of the blue. This is clearly the nicest thread on the boards.

Bee, I've been keeping up with your posts about your job and how you didn't want to go to the concert. I was in a similar position myself, a long time ago, when I worked with an abusive, narcissistic manager. I would come home each day exhausted, and didn't want to do anything except worry about having to go back the next day. It finally ended for me when I got a new job, as I'm sure it will for you. Psych is the toughest discipline of all because, as you correctly stated, most of your patients won't get better. I have a sister with mental health issues, and it is sometimes the most frustrating thing in the world, dealing with her. So my thoughts and prayers are with you.

No, I haven't had any problems with ingrown hairs. They suggest exfoliating in a hot shower/bath before epilating & that is supposed to help. I admit I don't alway do it though. I have not noticed a difference in results one way or another.

I do get tiny red bumps on my legs. This has been reported by many. For me, the bumps went away within hours the first time. Each time I have done my legs I got fewer bumps & they disappeared faster. The last time I almost missed that there were any red bump at all. I'd have been fine baring my legs in public right after doing them. They were completely gone very quickly. I'll be surprised if I have any bumps at all next time. I've been epilating since Oct. I did have an epilator years ago but it was one of those prehistoric torture devices that really did not do much good.

Happy Tuesday!!

Just wanted to give you all an update. I did NOT purchase the NO, NO! YAY!!

However... there is going to another Tria TSV in March so I will probably get that one!

I have to purchase some necessities this week.. Shampoo and Conditioner and eyeshadow primer...I love my Shampoo and Conditioner but it is so darn expensive. It's the only set that I can go 3-4 days without washing my hair( I know gross right) but I can just re-curl it here and there and I am good to go. So, in my mind I am using less product right? Thinking this is lasting longer? HA! I love rationalizing these things in my head

Hope everyone has a great week!

I have cleaned off two shelves in my kitchen, great progress so far!

Good for you not caving!

Have you tried an epilator? I have tried so many hair removal products & my epilator is doing the best job of anything & it is so much less expensive.

I slowed down on my ORC yesterday but I did get a little done. Was gone much of the day.

Does anyone know how often Coldwater Creek as their 50% off of everything in the store sales? I'd like to take advantage of those sales when using my Groupon deals. I was thinking, if they have them once a month, I could use one deal in March & one in April. I have two deals with $50 each & have to use the full amount of the deal at one time.

oh willdo!!!!

Yes... I have tried "the beast" AKA..Epilator.. and Girl, let me tell you... that experience was one for the books! The Q had one as TSV years and years ago, so I ordered it.. I thought... how bad could it be... I tried this adventure after my shower one evening... and I have never been in so much PAIN!! (worse than my C-section)... It grabbed my skin, it gave me ingrown hair

So... I thought ok... this has got to get easier.. NOPE not for the chick!! I even resorted to alcohol.. yep two drink minimum so I couldn't feel the pain. It was terrible..

I applaud all that can tackle that device.. {#emotions_dlg.lol}

The epilators these days are very different than the old ones. If you haven't tried one recently I highly recommend it. I've got the Emjoi eRase & it is pretty easy & painless for me to use. I think it works best when the hair is not too long.

Just Bee: I'm sorry that you missed Glenn Miller...and that you feel 'punky'. You help so many of us here on the boards. I hope that you can find a better spot to help people very soon. It's so hard to 'get up & go' when you get to work & it's a 'bad' place to be. Sadly if the folks there aren't leaving, might be time to move on-- else it will drain your spirit & hurt you physically. Get better soon!!!

Thank you for the kind words. It's probably because I worked four days straight and I'm just tired. And maybe I'm a little depressed knowing that my dream job has turned into a nightmare. What a horribly broken system. At this point I'm out of ideas: Where would be a better spot for me?

I'm ready to pack up and move to a log cabin in the forest.

I'm sorry you missed seeing the band. I would have loved to see them, too.

I've got a bunch of negative, out of my control stuff going on in my life, too. It really is a drain on one's energy. Running away sounds like a good plan.

Re: ComPact 2014 – February

Dear just bee, I read the compact all the time and I am also in the process of getting organized. Anyway ... One year ago I was in Germany at a Hospice because my sister was dying. They gave me a room and I was fed, I could do my laundry etc. etc. They really treated me like family and I am so greatful that I had a chance to spend those last weeks with my sister. I also met other relatives of residents and residents themselves and it was hard but at the same time it is also such important work. I so admired the nurses, the cooking staff and anyone else who worked there. People shy away from dying but it is a natural process and people should feel loved and maybe have some of their last wishes come true. I never thought I could feel so close to my sister. It was a privilege to be there and I had thought maybe I will volunteer in that area. To me it's almost a sacred duty. I thought about this for you before it was mentioned and just wanted to encourage you to maybe check it out.

Thanks for the response. It may be that I wasn't exfoliating beforehand, it's been a while so I can't remember. I've read mention of those older model torture devices from way back. I'm pretty sure that's what I have, so maybe that is contributing to my problem. I think I may give it another try with lots of exfoliation and see if that helps. Maybe if I figure it out now, then I'll be good to go by summer.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Maybe I can put one of those newer models on my wish list and scope out for specials.

I had a similar experience with hospice when my husbands grandfather(more like a father) was dying last year. The people were amazing and I agree it is a sacred duty and truly makes a huge difference in the lives of those passing and their loved ones as well.
