The ComPact is a commitment to simplify, pare down, streamline. It began as a way to gain some control over our collections of beauty products. Why were we amassing so much, yet not using what we were buying? Why were we always searching for the next new product? Why couldn't we just find what worked for us and stick with it?
The ComPact, however, is not restricted to beauty items. If you have a collection you want to address, do it here. Choose an area you want to work on, and track your progress on the ComPact thread. Members will offer tips and encouragement.
Choose one of our many mantras (“One by one until they’re done!” “We are SPAHHHRRRTAN!!!” “Not until you really have to.” “Buy less, choose well, make it last.” “Resist the propaganda.” "If it's high, I don't buy!" “When in doubt, do without!” “Shoplighters of the World Unite!”) or create a new one and share it. Target items each month to toss, donate, or use, and post your “chopping block” -- or “hit list.” Post temptations, post victories.
They say it takes 30 days for something to become a habit: Let's see if taking the ComPact one month at a time works for you.

On 2/1/2014 just bee said:

Can you prove that it was me who said I would start with my office? Ok, I know it was me, but I am a Pack Rat! I'll bet I still have papers since the 80s. Please don't make me go in there! LOL
Well I did great for no buy in Jan. Im so proud of myself because I didn't really think I could do it. But I did, and you know what, I still need no mu or skincare.
I just talked myself into the ORC. Sorry for the whining.

Happy Feb. felllow Compactors. I had a good month. I used up nine "stash" items:
2 Bubble baths
1 lip gloss
1 eye liner
2 shower gels
1 body lotion
1 hand soap
I am low on several other stash items that I hope to use up this month. WhooHoo, Onward! ![]()

I don't plan on any clothing purchase this month, and will only replace makeup as needed (no stash in my bathroom to use up).
I will join the ORC however, and start with my bedroom. I like the comment about making my bedroom as airy and uncluttered as a hotel !!

Whew! It's here. I made it. No beauty purchases, no clothing purchases except for some long underwear. I returned the only non-essential clothing purchase because it was an awful color for me. I got one room decluttered, and hope to do three more today. My garage door opener is malfunctioning, so I'm not going to be going in and out much today.

Welcome to a new month everyone! It's so great to see everyone doing so well and staying so motivated.
January was pretty good for me, but not perfect. I used up all the items on my hit list plus a couple more. I don't have the list here though, I tossed it when it was finished, oops!
Plus I gave away a few small items and tossed 2 small items. I had a total of 18 items out, including samples.
I did get a couple of things though, because I had BBW gift cards. Plus I got hubby a shower gel. So I had 4 items in total, for a net of 14 items out. So even though I wasn't perfect, I'm happy with how the month went overall. No really frivilous purchases, just clothes for the kids and items for our new bathroom that we're putting in the basement. It was nice to see the extra money in the bank at the end of the month. I'm going to try to stick with this for February too, only buy necessities and limit unneeded purchases.
I have my Hit list together for this month too, I'll post it soon.

My ORC will be my master bedroom/closet. Not because it's the most cluttered room, but because I've totally been putting off going thru the closet. I don't have tons of clothes, I don't really like to clothes shop, but I know I have jeans in there that don't fit and should go. Plus I know hubby has clothes he doesn't wear, maybe he will be agreeable to going thru some of his stuff. That's half the battle, getting hubby and kids involved.
If I just get off my behind and do it, it shouldn't take long at all, it's just a matter of forcing myself to do it.
Here's looking forward to another great month!

Just Bee. thanks so much for getting us rolling on into February. I still have plenty of stash to work on and my clothes are all set for the coming year or so. I am really not hard on clothes, so I probably have enough of them to last a lifetime, as well. I can't see that I need anything in February so it's off to a no buy month for me. I wonder what that feels like to be running out of bath gel, or makeup...I can only wonder...perhaps one day. Have a great February, ladies.
