Why do we collect so many sample products? And why don't we use them? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Good question Bee. I love getting free samples. I remember those tiny little Avon lipsticks. Boy, I had a bunch of those. I kept them for years and years and then finally threw them out.

I'm trying to use the samples I have now. This morning, after shampooing, I used a Fekkai Shea Butter conditioner sample. It was nice, but I hated the scent. This conditioner smelled like a cheap perfumey science project. So that's one I won't be buying!

Stay strong everyone. April is almost half gone!

Part of me believes those little lipsticks were the reason we started down this path. Avon samples = gateway drug.

Think about it. Wink

Hello. Thanks for the suggestions. I bought Eucerin (sp?). It was the best price. I got it at Fred Meyers and realized I really missed testers. I too have way too many samples especially perfume. I love getting them and hate storing them.

Ooh, you are so right! Gateway drug! {#emotions_dlg.scared} {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

As much as I like trying new products I really don't like samples. I never use them. I seem to save them for a special occasion which never arrives.

I caved on the Korres TS! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

I really could use some extra anti-aging for my body after losing so much weight. It was the "new" and "different" body butter that got me. If it had been just a new scent I'd have found it easier to pass up.

I went 23 months without purchasing any shower gels or body butters/lotions & I just recently opened my last one. I'm kind of disappointed in myself because I was convinced I could make it to the end of the year w/o buying more shower gels by using some bar soaps I've got. I have one unopened Korres body butter, too. But maybe the new body butter will be good for my skin.

Now my goal needs to be not to buy more for the rest of the year. I know I have more than enough to last into next year.

I think 4 oz sizes of shower gels would be good so we can use them up before the end of time and try other scents.

I'm working on getting a refund for my Coldwater Creek Groupons. CWC will not accept them anymore since the announcement of their closing. When I emailed Groupon they responded the next day that they contacted the company and I could still use the deals. I knew that was incorrect because of the letter I received from the CEO & the site clearly states they no longer accept Groupon. I don't expect any problems getting a refund.

I did go to CWC over the weekend & used a $20 coupon to purchase a pretty blouse that was on clearance. It ended up costing $5 and change. Then I bought a few other tops, all but one on clearance. I'm going to miss CWC.

I have been thinking about samples and realized that they symbolize travel/freedom to me. I love getting the 0.5 oz lotions in a gwp. I always think about my next trip and how nice it will be in my cosmetic bag or in my travel purse as a hand lotion. My least favorite items are perfume (I must have at least 20 tubes) and lipstick. I counted and 14/19 lip products I have are gwp. Plus it appeals to my sense of wanting a deal. By waiting a week I got 5 extra products.

I bought a set too. It doesn't sound like you have a big bath body stockpile so I wouldn't beat yourself up. I know it was a goal and disappointing but enjoy your purchase. At least we are using the things we buy instead of just looking at them sitting on the shelf and drawers or at least know they will be used. I have one freshly opened gel, body butter, new body SPF for summer and an aloe that is almost gone so, besides the bar soap, I have no other bath body products. I am now set on moisturizers for the rest of the year and then some. I figured I will also start using the bar soap in the summer. I found it too drying in the winter. But like you, new goal, no more until what I have is gone. Bummer about CW, hopefully you will receive your refund without any drama.

On 4/12/2014 DL2843 said: Hello All: I am so happy that so much positivity is discussed on this thread. Congrats to all you and your accomplishments. That being said I had a negative experience with compacting. Around January I realized that I would need a new tube of fragrance free hand lotion/thick body lotion. I saw a tube at TJ Maxx but did not want it sitting in my house for several months. I saw a tube at Sephoria but was resolved to not panic. So twice I have been back to TJ's and you guessed it no lotion. Went to Sephoria and no lotion in the store. I have to purchase on-line. One of my goals was to end on-line purchases since I order to get free shipping and that contributed to the stash. So does anyone know of a great fragrance free really thick lotion? I use Cetaphil on my face and body, but it isn't thick enough for my dry hands. Thanks.
I give you and everyone else credit for taking it to that degree. If I know I am running low on something or will need something within a month or two, I just get it. I think mostly because every time I need something I never remember when I am out and sometimes don't remember what I wanted to try so I don't always wait until the last minute. I get it when it is in my mind. I tried lists but sometimes they don't always work for me. I am using eucerin too for hand lotion. I got a three pack from bjs. I don't know how I feel about it. It seems fine, I wish it was a little thicker.

I just recently threw out a skinn dark spot lightening roller ball serum. I started using it again so I can use it instead of looking at it and it went bad, it smelled of alcohol - it's not even a year old. I was a little annoyed but it was a good reminder to not buy treatment products I am not going to use. I just never get around to them. This came in a kit so I am not too annoyed but just glad I decided to use it up on my hands and not my face. Once I use the rest of my treatment products, I will then get an exfoliator and then I am done. Of course, that will be a while yet.
