Thanks for the info on the ORC. Our storage room needs it, but hubby needs to have major input. He's so dang busy right now, there's no way. Maybe I'll do the kitchen and just move from one end of the house to another. The good news is, except for the storage room and our bedroom/bathroom, there isn't clutter! I'm sure there are some Tupperware items without lids, etc that could be ditched, though. Smiley Wink

Hello, ComPacters! I haven't been around much lately, because we moved. I started ComPact as really just trying to use things up and that worked really well, at least for certain items. I appreciate this thread for making me more aware. The move tho....wow! So many things are gone. I am definitely not a hoarder, but I now know, I don't want to keep ANYTHING unnecessary. What a great feeling to be rid of so much junk. Just hoping....nothing I really wanted got thrown away-lol! But honestly, so much was donated and thrown away, it feels great!

Week 1 update:

No purchases this week (other than necessities)

Used up: 1 bar soap, 1 (1/4 oz) moisturizer,1 toner, 2 votives, 1 hotel sized conditioner sample, and 1 Marilyn Miglin Goddess dusting powder (this was at least 8 years old)!

ORC: It's going well, I've got about 1/4 of the kitchen cabinets and drawers cleaned out and polished.

BTW, for those of us that are "cleaning challenged", have any of you discovered Springcleaning365? (FB page here), or website here. I just started yesterday. I think this is going to be just what I need.

Stay strong!

Interesting CCBeauty. I think when I helped move relatives and helped moved nearly 30 years of "stuff" is when my ah ha moment came. I realized that I never want to go through that again. It was truly truly a nightmare. That had to be about 8 to 9 years ago now. I did my last major declutter last year and now I am just gathering things to donate as I go. I truly do not want anything, besides seasonal things, that I am not using or just enjoy. Did I get rid of some things I regret, sure, but I wouldnt take it all back if you paid me. At the time, I wanted things out and I had to be brutal, otherwise, it would not gotten done. Some things were put in the donation pile by accident but what can you do. I still have a ways to go but I am loving the peacefulness I gained.

Alright, ladies, I just used up 180 flossers and only have 1,925 to go. At this rate, I am good for at least the next three years if not longer. Good thing they don't need much space.

So, tonight was my last trip to Sephora. I used up my credit on things I didn't need but will use. I was so tempted to buy mu but that would of just been silly. I barely use what I have now. In any case, I am done with Sephora for a very long time. I have a gift card at bath and body and I would like to use that one soon. I want it out my wallet. Yes, I suppose I am decluttering my wallet. Lol.

I have been finding it easier to part with my makeup, whether it be tossing it or giving it away. I was able to give away a Urban Decay Smoked eyeshadow palette. I hardly reach for it but couldn't let it go. It was part of my UD collection that was nice to look at but not practical to use (I can't pull off a smokey eye no matter what I do). But, I finally did it today and gave it to a friend's niece. I'm starting to lose the emotionally attachment to things. Feels great!

I have a recurring fantasy about getting rid of everything I own and starting over. But then I remember that at least 90% of what I have is what I keep because of some emotional attachment. Everything has sentimental value, everything has a memory attached.

I keep reminding myself that these are items I can't take with me when I shuffle off this mortal coil, so why can't I part with them before I go?

I think some of us are battling spring fever. That need to start over and try something new. I was so close to buying new shampoo and conditioner -- Aveda's madder root of all things -- but I talked myself out of it.

Free shipping plus three free samples and I didn't do it. The offer returns. Different samples now but I'm starting to avoid ordering items to get samples that I never use.

Why do we collect so many sample products? And why don't we use them? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}
