ORC is One Room Challenge. We pick a room to declutter for the month. My last ORC was actually just my handbags. But my main focus is still my makeup stash. I can finally say that I have hit pan on every category of cosmetic now that I hit pan on my Tarte blush this week. I am still over the moon about it. I'm even taking weekly pictures of it so i can track my progress. So silly, but it's the little victories that keep me going.

And we're off...

Just Bee: This one is so worth repeating. So not fond of the little creatures, but it is terribly cute.

Dosey: Thanks for the comment the end of March

My bathroom is still clean (ORC) and the living room is holding even. I've been working on the bedroom, and thinking about getting the taxes done. I really must look at them. Asked DH to put things in a drawer as they came in, and I really do need to see if there is anything else I have to scrounge up. Doing taxes always puts me in a bad mood.

I am trying to pretend it's spring, wear bright spring colored clothing even though it is still end of winter rainy/grey overcast with occasional glimpses of sun every few days.

It is great that everyone is still motivated to ComPacting. I have not finished my ORC {#emotions_dlg.blushing}, but the rooms that I have decluttered (kitchen and dining room) have remained clutter-free! Last week, I tossed three eye shadows (10 colors total). I do not know how old they were. The lids were either broken or very scratched. Why was I hanging on to them? It's not like I do not have other eye shadows. This week, I am tossing some hair products.

Spring is here in the south. I moved my winter shoes to the back of the closet and my summer shoes to the front. My toenails are painted, and my legs have been self-tanned a little bit to match my arms. Can't wait to go sleeveless!! Sadly, it will be raining for the next two days, so DD and I are going shopping tomorrow. She needs some spring/summer tops. I hope we find some good sales.

Now, here is some unfortunate news. One day last week, I was driving DS home from school. We were having a pleasant conversation when he suddenly became quiet. Then, he informed me that I was getting a mustache. A mustache!! No way. I haven't seen evidence of a mustache. When we got home, I beelined to the bathroom. After turning on all of the bedroom and bathroom lights and opening the blinds, I got real close to the mirror. GASP!!! There were a few dark hairs. They were short, but they were there. Sticking straight out. ARRRRGGGHHHH!! Why? Why? This is the pits. Body and face maintenance really increases as we age. I just can't stand it.

Exercise and volunteering have been helping me deal with stress. Recently, DS and I started helping at the animal shelter. We do different things depending on what is needed. Sometimes, we unfold newspapers. Today, I worked in the puppy and kitten room cleaning the cages. Someone holds the animals while someone cleans the cage. We took turns so we all could hold the puppies and kittens. I see how pet therapy works. It is so relaxing.

Paws and enjoy life.

Rain? Sad? Clearly you do not live in the desert! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

Dosey, just wait. Soon you'll have a beard to go with that stache!

But none of this matters. What matters is that you've committed to do something wonderful. A few stray hairs? A rainy day? You don't have time to fret -- you're doing something that's more important. Thank you for being there for the animals.

You continue to impress me.

Good morning, everyone! I think I have just one more pump in my Laura Geller primer, and then I can start on the next 4 oz. bottle. I've been dealing with some health issues so I haven't been as focused on the one room as I should have. I did get the HVAC installed last week and it is working great. I have just one beauty item on AD and I postponed the next delivery. I have a credit card that I put nearly everything on and pay in full each month. I went through last year and made a record of how much was purchased for each month. My goal is to reduce each month's spending.

I had to replace my shower caddy that was rusted to a dangerous point. It was a two shelf, pretty wide one that used to be full. In addition to the four corner ledges of the tub. I've reduced so much that I got a cheap shower caddy with only one shelf that is half as wide as my old one. four tub corners still hold bottles but not to the point that it's spilling over. Between DD, who shares the bathroom and me, we're down to one set each of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face soap each. We used to have multiples for both of us. Eventually I'd like to be able to share only one set with her but we have different skin and hair needs right now. DH is amazed that I got such a small caddy. I'm still striving to have a bathroom like the boys who only have one corner shelf of stuff. Still, I'm making progress. I am happy to report that I am letting another Sephora sale pass me by without a purchase. I'm at the point where I get a bigger thrill from my low-buy, than the thrill I used to get when I bought something new. It's actually painful to add to the stash now that I've been making progress in using things up. And I have to say again that we have the nicest people on this thread. I never feel condemnation here. Thanks for the love, ladies!

On 4/5/2014 aprilskies said:So, I never was one to keep a budget but decided this year to set one up just to see where all the spending is going. Yesterday, I finally setup the spreadsheet so now its a matter of sitting down and entering the receipts. I know I probably wont capture everything since I am not sure I kept receipts or wrote things down but its a start. I do wish I kept records of other years just to see the diff from year to year. Oh well, not that important to me, just curious since I have really cut back in a lot of areas and it would of been interesting to see the result.

I have been doing some organizing and decluttering lately but nothing of note but I have a little box ready to go.

I am going to take a trip today to Sephora and pick up a couple of things during their sale and that I can use and need but then I am recommitting to the Compact for beauty items. I can tell I am losing a little grip and dont want to go down that path again of collecting again.

I am wondering if Spring will ever get here.

I never thought I spent much on toiletries (even though I have a linen closet filled with shower gels). Do I shop at Sephora? I walked into the place once, sniffed a fragrance, then walked out. I'm a low maintenance girl -- how could I be spending too much on lotions and potions? I buy sale items, close-outs, get free shipping.

I sat down one day a few years ago and added it all up. I started with my online receipts. Then I looked at my checkbook register. I had a small seizure. {#emotions_dlg.scared}

I think you are a brave woman for even adding it up. I cannot bring myself to do that and dont think I really want to know. So maybe, keeping a budget starting this year is not a bad thing. {#emotions_dlg.lol}
