ComPact 2012: How are you doing?

I could not find the ComPact 2012 thread so I am just extending the conversation. Do you remember the "Never again in 2010?" ? Well, that really shook me up and started my change in thinking about my beauty and fashion choices. Well, it has been two years and I am much better and getting better. I still spend too much money on things, but I am only buying what I use now and I can resist any TSV (as long as I don't watch a presentation). I bought three Mally TSV;s last year and to be honest I sold half of the items on ebay when I got them and then realized that most of the stuff I was left with did not work for me. I swapped a lot on makeupalley.com and got rid of some of the stuff for stuff I use and then I bought the rest of my stuff from my stash and collection that does not go with my skintone to work and put it in a basket--it was gone by lunchtime. Good idea that one.

I went through all of my clothes and I continue to do so. I moved in 2011 and filled a few garbage sized bags of clothes that no longer fit or that I do not wish to wear anymore and gave it to my church for the poor. I have less stuff now, but it is actually what I wear. I went through everything I own when I moved into this house. Every sock, underwear, bra, shoe, coat, pants, shirts, pjs handbags, accecories you name it and I pared down. When I look at my things now I realize that life is easier without the clutter. I also sold a lot of jewelry on ebay and bought a few really classy timeless pieces with the money. What a relief.

I still have a stash but it is only the items I use and have been using forever. I need back ups for my staple products such as my DHC Skincare, Dr. Denese day cream and hydroshield serum, clinique buttershine in baby baby, Nars Orgas*m lipgloss, Clinique lipgloss in air kiss, Chanel blush in rose petale, L'Occetain shea butter hand cream. These are products I use everyday and I must have back ups. It is easier now that I am 46 because I don't buy colored eyeshadows I just use Dior's Incognito quint compact and that is the only eyeshadow I need. When It runs out I will get more. I still have trouble with the sales at sephora online and if I cave I buy a staple and that gets used. If you have trouble buying TSVs try refraining from watching the presentations upon pain of death! It will hurt you at first but it does get easier. Also, buy the best things you can afford that is in your budget think quality over quantity this will help you from buying things you do not need. I also pay my credit card off every two weeks-if I can't pay for something in two weeks I cannot afford it and thus cannot have it.

Lastly, I would like to keep these ComPact 2012 threads going. I need to hear from all of you to keep myself motivated and in line. To those beauties who are just starting to get a hold of their spending and stashes I assure you it can be done. Good luck to all.
