Colors to wear for portraits?

My husband and i are having a portrait made at the end of this month for our family members...they dont have anything curant of us..so i am excited to do it,but i also know what you wear,in the portrait is so important for it to come out right..so i have decided,since its for christmas that we should wear red,because it shows up so well in pictures...my husband has beautiful silver grey hair,mine is not grey,its a brown..

Just thought i would ask, for openions on this..
