Collegen powder supplements?

Does anyone take any collegen supplements in a powdered form and what are your results, brand you use?  Looking for a good supplement for the skin.  Thanks

I don't believe a supplement can take away wrinkles or improve sagging skin. Collagen is just another protein that gets broken down into amino acids in the gut. Our bodies process these amino acids from collagen the same way as it does from any other protein that is eaten. Save your money and enjoy a well-balanced diet with a good source of healthy protein.Woman Happy

Re: Collegen powder supplements?

I buy liquid collagen at Costco.  I have been taking it for about 3 months. My hair has improved greatly, it has become much thicker;  but the biggest improvement I see in my nails. I had terrible nails, week and constantly splitting, nothing ever worked until I took the Collagen. I cant believe how healthy they look now, I finally have nails that I can show off.  Not so sure yet about my skin, but I think it  has improved as well.

@Bellagio I don't think any powders will produce more collagen (jmo) or Creams as the molecules are large & don't penetrate in the skin. Eating superfoods for collagen boosting is best. A better option than a collagen face cream is Essentual oils mixed with a carrier oils The oils have smaller molecules that penetrate deeper into the skin. 1tsp. carrier oil to 3 drops essentual at night. Do some research on essentual oil first.

Re: Collegen powder supplements?

A couple of things I've learned in my reseach:

1.  Collagen Type 1 & 3, often come as a combined supplement.
2.  The marine version of Collagen 1 is the most easily absorbed.
3.  If you are taking Collagen 2, it should not be taken at the same time as 1 & 3.
4.  It's best to take any of the collagen supplements on an empty stomach.

I take two collagen supplements (one a couple of hours before dinner, and the other one at bedtime).  I believe they've contributed to my overall skin health, but I've noticed more improvement in my nail growth than when I've taken a hair, skin, and nails supplement.  I also include collagen supplements to help my joints.

I have seen that and wondered about it.  Thanks for the recommendation!  I have been taking their Hair, Skin & Nails supplement but haven't seen much improvement.

After I had surgery for a torn meniscus, the doctor suggested I take powdered collegen along with glucosamine chondroitin since I had only minimal arthritis and my cartilage was still pretty good to keep it from deteriorating further.

Re: Collegen powder supplements?

Collegen powder is something I take daily.  I usually take it 3x days.  It has dramatically improved my joints.  Because I weight train heavy, and I'm in my 50's, my joints were not happy campers.  I started with bone broth (which I still consume) but I have now added collegen powder.  I use it mostly in my protein shake.  It's tasteless and odorless.  But it sure packs a punch.  My joints no longer hurt.  My nails and hair grow like wild fire.  I think it's too early to see skin results, if I do.  My skin is in pretty good shape as it is - and that's due to not only healthy living, but using good skin products since I was in my 20's.  And I drink a ton of water daily.

I highly recommend collegen powder!
