Kat, So sorry you're dealing with clogged pores. If I get them on the side of my face, I find that often it's a hair product that is the culprit. Have you used any new conditioners or styling products? Hair serums and conditioners are the most problematic for me. If not a hair product, it could be skincare. Are you using anything new?

In the meantime, I know you want them gone, but please be gentle because irritation with product overload can actually make them worse. Good luck.

Re: conditioners, styling products, hair serums, skincare ...

Other good reasons to change the pillowcase every nite.

Here's a very simple thing to try. Boil some water, add a nice herbal tea bag, (for the nice scent). Put it on a hot pad on your kitchen table. Grab a towel to drape over your head and let the steam do the work. Sometimes I follow up by using a cotton ball and alcohol free witch hazel. Even as a teenager it kept me from having acne problems. This is a very relaxing way to clean out those pores. You can do it as often as you like, because it's very gentle on the skin. Good luck

I agree brandiwine....If you get a facial, they always steam the face to open up the pores. I have been doing this once a wk. the way you do it. (as I mentioned above but forgot to mention the towel. I haven't tried it with herbal tea, great idea, thanks. It is simple & works well. I'm not sure about doing it as often as you like....from what I have been told about steam baths...steaming too often can be drying on the skin but a few times a wk. is beneficial.

kabella & brandiwine,

After you finish steaming your face, do you squeeze the blackheads, or do you cleanse your face in some way? I understand the steaming opens the pores, but how do you remove the gunk inside them? And do you do something to close them up again? Would you please share your routines? TIA

I cleanse first, than after I steam, I cleanse again but with a gentle cleanser. I spray my face with Mario Bedescu, herb, aloe & rose toner. Its my favorite but you can use whatever toner you have as long as it doesn't contain alcohol. You will find after steaming, in your case steam more often in the beginning, then eventually, you probably will be able to use the slightest of pressure with your fingers to remove the blackheads without leaving a scar. If you can't remove them very gently, I would see a derm. Good Luck!

I plan on doing the steaming as I actually recently read that it is the best way to clean your pores and you can add some lavender oil or eucalyptus oil and breathe that in. I think my problem is and just realized it that when I am laying on my side, I have a habit on placing my part of arm or hand across that part of my face which I am trying to break now. I have been protecting my face with my blanket instead. I have Thayer's Rose Petal toner (no alcohol). Thanks, Kabella.

The Paula's Choice Resist 4% BHA Foam is amazing!!

I bought it a while ago but did not use it until a few nights ago. I noticed I was getting some rather large clogged pores. This got rid of them almost 100% overnight!! Then I used it as a spot treatment every other night and my skin looks so smooth and clear!!

Read the reviews. This stuff just rocks. I am going to make sure I always use this at least once a week. Highly recommend!!

Your welcomeSmiley Happy If your skin is dry, you might want to try Aloe Vera Toner by Mario Badesue, its very mild & calms redness. Its not a spray but apply with a cotton ball or round after cleansing & The Facial Spray with the aloe, herbs and rosewater that I mentioned is my HG for hydrating. I really put it to a test after a severe reaction to a new cream I tryed where my face turned red & it dryed me out. That quickly calmed it down. It also works well if you use a mineral powder foundation or any powder, what it does is takes that powder look away, much like MAC fix + but with much better ingred's. Hope you like it, if you decide to purchase. Def. do your own research & see if it fits your needs. You will love what the steaming will do for you. Good Luck!
