Re: Cleansing Balms the Way ti Go in This Weather!!!

No balms for me. I use Marula oil that keeps my skin balanced especially in this freezing cold weather. Frankly, this is the best oil I have ever used from the oils I have tried. Once a week a use alba Botanica Hawaiian facial exfoliator and Fresh lip exfoliator. I use Neutrogena Pore Refining facial wash which never dries my skin and gets it super clean. That's my routine. I don't think I ever used a balm so I am not knocking it, I never tried it.

Where would I purchase Boots Botanics cleansing balm? Sounds interesting.

I think Target has it. Not sure which other stores.

Not a balm, but Tatcha oil. Yes, yes, yes. Same great benefits for winter skin.

Yes, I pulled out my Rodial Cleansing Balm last month. I don't usually pay a lot for my cleansers, but picked up a couple of these at TJM for about $10 each on clearance - score!

Re: Cleansing Balms the Way ti Go in This Weather!!!

I use Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth, it's a product of the UK, but Birchbox carries it now, yay.

Because I use 2 lotion type, non foaming cleansers daily that contain oils (emollients) which work the same as a balm, I use Balance Me as a mask.

The issue that I have with balms, oil cleansers, and non foaming lotion/milk cleansers is that they leave a residue, some more, some less, usually from the lipid content, that stays on the skin somewhat. Which is good for moisture retention, but I'm not sure how well our skincare actives effectively penetrate through them because lipids are large molecules and occlusive, to certain degrees, especially petroleum products, like mineral oils and petroleum jelly, which are occlusive.

I remove all of them with a microfiber cloth to remove the residual before applying my skincare and then I apply my oils (emollients) before sunscreen.

Maybe I'm over thinking it, but for whatever it's worth, it makes sense to me. Smile

I don`t live close to a Target so order on line from Drugstore. com. Have ordered the Boots Cleansing Balm from them.
