Chemical/Physical SPF? What's the difference and how do you know which one a product has?

In a topic earlier someone said they wouldn't buy something because it had chemical spf. She said some things have physical spf. I've never heard of such a thing. I'd like to know what's the difference and how do you know which one a product has?
