Lancome makes a good one. It's white, so you'll need to pay attention when putting your mascara on over it to make sure the white doesn't show through.

I have tried many, many brands and CLINIQUE makes the best one in my opinion. Makes any mascara 1,000 times better.

My favorite was Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes Primer which is black. I apologize about recommending a product which has been discontinued, but in this case you can still buy it at the Tarte website for the time being. Another one I use is Laura Geller's which is also black. Lancome's is good, but my old eyes just can't use the white primers anymore as no matter how much I magnify it seems as though I find a white dot peeking through later.

Blinc makes a black one called black lash primer. It is actually what I use as my mascara these days so I can't comment on how well it actually works as intended (as a primer) but it is excellent as a mascara!

Thanks Happydaze! At some point when inventory is gone, I won't be able to get the Tarte anymore, and I'll need a replacement option on my list.

you're welcome! I am surprised Tarte is discontinuing theirs! There are hardly any black mascara primers on the market these days so it seems like it would have done well. I don't really like the white primers since it is so hard to cover all the white and it tends to make my black mascaras look more greyish than black.

I also recommend the one by Lancome. I've tried many brands, but for me, Lancome is the best.

These days I've gotten away from doing a traditional eyeliner on a regular basis. I've been using IT Cosmetics Tightline, though, and that doubles as a mascara primer.

IMO, Lancôme, hands down!
