Can We Get Cheeky? ......And Lippy?

I've been redoing a lot of my MU recently. And I realized I haven't upgraded any of my blushes. I'd be interested in any new blushes you have bought lately......or maybe you have a HG.

About a week ago, I tried Clinique's Cheek Pop in Plum Pop and BB's Pot Rouge in Raspberry. Neither looked well on me. The Plum seemed too bright and the Raspberry was much too dark for my fair/light skin.

I'd love to know of anyone who has tried the BB Shimmer Brick in Rosy for a blush? I'm also intrigued by her Brightening Finishing Powders in Porcelain Pearl and Nude. Anyone recommend any of these?

Please share any of your new and/or favorite blushes and whether they work better on light, medium or dark skin tone.

And...............does anyone know of a serum or cream to use on the lines that develop above lips as expression lines. (I never smoked.) They are getting on my 63 yo nerves......lol.

Thank you, Beauties! I hope we can have a fun thread. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Well, since I adore the texture and finish of cheek pops, I don't know that we're on the same wavelength. I'm also very much liking the JM cheek gelees. I guess I'm attracted lately to the look of a stain but not using an actual stain. Both the Clinique pops and the gelees give a natural flush that I'm preferring at the moment to shimmer powders. I've been stippling one f the Pot blushes and topping it off with a stipple of the gelee in a complementary shade. Nice.

Re: Can We Get Cheeky? ......And Lippy?

I have switched over to Laura Geller and Tarte blushes. I have many (too many) of them but I love wearing all colors of blush to coordinate with what I am wearing clothing wise. I am very fair with light brown hair and blue eyes and have not found one I've bought that didn't work for me. However, both brands are highly pigmented so I just need to use a small amount. Think I might have enough blush to last the rest of my life! LOL!

Great, SQ! I was hoping you'd post. I like the effect of the JM gelees also. And I was excited about the Clinique and BB. But I couldn't get a nice natural-looking flush. I tried the stippling approach (altho' this is a new method for me).

The raspberry pot rouge made me look like a porcelain doll clown with red cheeks. {#emotions_dlg.w00t} And the Clinique plum looked very bright.

Apparently I doing something wrong........very wrong! I tried for a light touch and switched to using my fingers. I graded myself an F!!!

Can you help me with any clues, Suzy?

eta: Do you think the shimmer look is "out" - last's year's look?

Soonersis, sounds like we match in the coloring department. The only color I don't think would work for me is coral because I'm cool-toned. But I've read that coral is universal.

I love the LG sugar-free (no sparkle) blushes. My fav is sugar-free boysenberry. And I love the ethereal rose to give a flush of color. Sugar plum looks dark but goes on light.

Have you tried her cream blush sticks?

I don't think that you're doing anything wrong; obviously, those shades just don't appeal to you. If you were determined, you could try a very light hand.

I've also found that sometimes what might look a bit much at first can look more natural after a bit. Also, you could try a light shade of powder to tone it down. But basically, they just don't sound as if they suit you as well as LG's blushes.

Have you tried JM berry bliss? Love the color and I love the texture of the gelees.

Yup. I have four of the gelees -- the duo that QVC sells, the berry, and the red.

For years I wore nothing orange or coral colored as I thought it didn't look good on me. But then I started on a rose gold jewelry kick so started getting a few coral color things that looked nice with the jewelry. I tried out some coral/peachy shades of eye shadows, blush, and lipstick and it looks good. The Laura Geller blush I have with these tones are Pink Grapefruit, Hibiscus, Golden Apricot (the most coral colored), and Apricot Berry. These all have some shimmer to them. The Tarte coral-toned blush I have is matte and is called Darling. It is in a palette of 5 colors I got from Sephora around the holidays called Off the Cuff Blush Palette.

I have not tried her cream blush sticks and don't think I will as I have oily skin so prefer a powder blush, and I don't really need any more either!

Good point, Soonersis! I also have combo/oily skin so cream blushes probably wouldn't work for me either.

The next time I'm in Ulta or Sephora I'll have to check out that Apricot Berry. Sounds like the best of both worlds - I generally go for pinks, berries, plums and roses.
