Calling All Demi or Semi-permanent Color Users

Question for you ladies....how long does the color hold or last? and do you do your roots and then the last 10mins put it on the ends of your hair?? List any product brand you use also....I need gray coverage and would be coloring to my natural shade.

Also does this give your hair some extra volume/body? I know with permanent hair color I get volume and body in my hair but since I have never used demi/semi colors I wondered about this.
