Hi Ladies !!
I'm not sure if anyone can answer this unless you have both, or tried both. I have the Prestige Ionic 4 In 1 Styler (HSN), and I am not too thrilled with the results I get. I have a little past shoulder length, somewhat fine hair, and I do not get the curls that the model got when this styler was demonstrated, and what curl I did get didn't last long, and I believe the vendor (I forget his name) said that the curls or waves will last. Not only that, my hair seemed kind of oily after I used the styler, and it wasn't oily when I started !!! Yet, this styler seems to get better reviews than the Calista Tools Perfector. So, my question to you is, if anyone can tell me which they think is better, I would SO appreciate it !!!! I am so tempted to order the Calista one and compare the results, but being so close to Christmas, it's not really in my budget to buy the Calista one, and then wind up with two I am not crazy about !! I would greatly appreciate your help !!!
Thanks !!
Cindy

The models on TV for the Prestige and Perfecter have natural wave/curl to their hair, so the curling wand just pulls those curls together in one direction resulting in a beautiful curl, something you and I don't have. I too have fine, shoulder length, straight hair. I have both and the Tron, similar but hotter and smaller barreled. I can get them to go through my hair like they do on TV but my hair isn't as long so it doesn't get the rotation I want to make my hair curl like that. The Calista Tools Ionic hot rollers in the long version work for me to get much better curl. I can easily flip my hair out with the Prestige/Perfector, but I have to section it greatly to get it to curl under and only the longer top layers will do a wave by twisting the brush through if I use small enough sections. My new cut is pretty much blow, texturizing spray it and go, so when I have time to do more and feel like it I will, but this winter has been a rush to get out the door, so maybe spring will give me more time.

There are a ton of these brush dryers on both ebay and Amazon. No reviews available on ebay but lots on Amazon.

The Prestige and Perfecter are not brush dryers, but curling brushes meant for dry hair only. They do different things.

Actually, I only saw 3 used Prestige, but a TON of Perfecter on eBay. After everything I read about the Perfecter's bristles breaking and not heating up enough, my guess is, keep the Prestige and forget about the Perfecter. From what I see, the Perfecter's brush is smaller and I can't see how anyone could do anything with it. Re: the Prestige, if you are using the low setting, forget it. My hair is very naturally curly and I can't even use the low setting on ANY curling iron.
Please be aware that the Prestige is sold mostly to straighten curly hair, not curl straight hair. I am sure the "frizz" of which you speak is not real "frizz;" it's damage frizz. REAL frizz is from hair that has an oval or flat shape. Let me give you a lesson.
There are 3 different types of individual hairs:
1. Round hairs - super straight, no wave at all
2. Oval hairs - curly or wavy hair (there are varying degrees of "oval")
3. Flat hairs - kinky or "coily" hair (kinky hair is like the hair some redheads have; coily hair is like African-American hair)
The Prestige is really only meant for types 2 and 3 and to alleviate the FRIZZ of naturally curly or kinky/coily hair. Now, some people can have a combo. Some have 1 and 2 or 2 and 3, as well. But I watched the commercial, and it is really not a curling iron, so to speak. It is meant to de-frizz naturally curly hair. I am sure you would NOT consider your hair "frizzy" if you saw my hair. That is after MUCH MUCH product has been added to it to tame it. It's "fluffy." THAT is frizz.

For an interesting view of curly hair types go here:
http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types
"Straight" hair (which they don't mention because it's a "curl" site) is types 1A, 1B and 1C. It is solely dependent on how thick your hair is, 1A being the thinnest and 1C being the thickest.

They are all advertised to straighten but really, who is going to spend that much time with it to properly straighten curly hair. That is what a straight iron is for, but they will help to shape slightly wavy or straight hair straighter. It will so a c-curl, flip out, spiral (slightly if you pull down slow enough and have hair that is easily curled), and an s-curl with practice. I mainly use it to brush through my hair to straighten out the nights kinks and do a c-curl or flip out. My hair doesn't hold curl well, which is why I use hot rollers since the curling iron falls flat quickly.
