@Mom2Dogs I don't see why you can't use the products mentioned for your hands. I am interested in the Clinique the one woman used for my hands. I am going to look into it.

I use a cream called Nadinola, that contains 3% hydroquinone. Other creams OTC contain only 2% hydroquinone. I buy it on line at Walmart. I think I paid just under ten dollars for the jar. I use it on my face, neck, chest and hands. I concentrate on the spots, not an entire area. This works well for me. As others mentioned, you must use sunscreen when using any fading product, or you negate any benefit you may have. I use Nadinola for three months and then switch to Arbutrin serum by the Ordinary for three months. I have found if I don't continue to use a fading product, the spots come back. HTH

@Luv pets FYI, many skincare products containing hydroquinone have been pulled off the market. It’s a proven carcinogen...not sure the %. I used the OBAGI system for many yrs. that bleaches spots when combined w/ Retin A. It’s no longer available.

@Shanus I was just at the Walmart site to check on the products available. Nadinola with 2% hydroquinone is available. The extra strength Cream at 3% is not available. They also had Porcelana, Palmer's, and lesser known brands with hydroquinone.I also spotted an Obagi product. As individuals we must decide for ourselves which product we want to use. I wanted to let others know about something that worked for me. Ponds Clarant is also available. That cream contains Niacinamide instead of hydroquinone. It has great reviews. I bought a jar to try it myself!
I apologize for the font. It keeps changing size, and I can't seem to fix it.

@Shanus You statement about some products with hydroquinone being pulled is exactly what happened to Joan River's Hand Cream which QVC buyers loved. @lovesrecess yes there are quite a few different products that can be found in the Ethnic section of stores that sell beauty products including grocery stores.
@Luv pets I was just on Walgreen dot com and they do have have the 3% listed and in stock.

I faded out a huge melasma on my cheek using 4% Hydroquinone for 3 months in 1997, it has not returned. If you avoid the sun, once faded, they should not return.

Hydroquinone is still being used and sold. Higher otc concentrations, however, have been discontinued due to their association to cancer. But you can still buy products otc containing lower percentages of the hydoquinone or get a Rx for the 4%.

You can still get the Obagi RX through a derm if they sell the line. Just bought the Clear and Blender to use with my retin A. You can’t buy on line anymore.

@Shanus Yes, thank you for mentioning this. Plus, for years Nadinola, Porcelana, and Palmer's have been the inexpensive standby for dark spots...none of them ever worked for me.

@Phantom41 The online site where I purchased my OBAGI pulled the one w/ hydroquinone. Yes, my derm can write an RX, but online it was discounted.
