Just had my first experience with botox this morning. I have very bad hyperhidrosis...especially of the scalp and face. My insurance company said they would cover 80%, so I had it done today. The procedure was simple and only took about 15 minutes. When they inject botox for hyperhidrosis, they inject more shallowly than they do to make wrinkles disappear...although the doctor said she went a little deeper into my 11's between my eyes. Yes! Since I live in a frigid climate, I probably only need it once a year, but my insurance approved two more treatment sessions if needed. I had a lot in my scalp and some on the forehead and above the eyebrows...and a little on the neck and upper part of my back. I could have used it also around my nose and chin, but since I play the flute, that would affect my ability to make the correct embouchure. Just wondering how long it was before you got results? Someone told me she had results the next day. The doctor said at least a week. What has been your experience, and how long did the results last for you? Thanks!

I have never but my boss, gets botox injections into her throat every 4 months to calm her vocal cords, as they are spastic.  It really works for her and allows her to have a semi normal voice for a few months.

Best of luck to you.  I hope you can get help with it.  My daughter also plays the flute.

A lovely sounding instrument.  HAPPY PLAYING TO YOU.

@Skididdy ... I've heard that there are many off-label uses for Botox. My friend gets it in her neck for cervical dystonia. I'm glad it helps your boss out.

So your daughter also plays flute? It is a beautifu-sounding-instrument. I played in junior high and high school and then didn't play until after I retired. I've been playing about 7 years again now in our community band. It came back to me quickly...surprising how you remember most of those fingerings!

@Yardlie

For many years I had injections for cronic migraines. Most injection sites were not on my face but there were a couple forehead sites the neurologist injected. I did have some slight swelling for a day or two but I could see the  difference by the time I got into my car. Everyone is different. I hope this will work for you and you get relief soon. There is a cumulative effect, my Dr mentioned this and stated results will improve as I continue to receive injections.

@rochelleS ... Thank you for your input about the Botox injections. Although my injections were for hyperhidrosis, I know how bad those chronic migraines can be. I used to get them. They started going away as I went through menopause. I had a few of the forehead injections, but most of them were in the scalp. She did not mention the cumulative effect, so that is good to know. Thanks much!

I love Botox!  But to tell the truth, I get it for very different reasons than you!

@Yardlie As @rochelleS said, I too get them for migraines. I get them atop my forehead by my hairline, temples, sides of scalp, back of head, neck and across my shoulders. I also get just 1 shot ( most people with migraines get 2) in my 11 line area. I don't like the way my brows drop and eyelids droop if I get 2 shots there. So, if that happens to you, do not panic. It's  very common. It all depends on what you are willing to put up with to possibly illuminate your hyperhidrosis. Hope it helps.

@Coquille

I occasionally received two shots in the "11" area. It depended on how I my headaches were... since my last visit. I btw, do not have "11"lines other than with normal expressions. As mentioned, did receive forehead injections, also two. I'd noticed some brow and lid droop after one session and mentioned this on my return visit. My doc modified the site and I never again experienced that issue. Those injections saved my sanity and gave me my life back. I'm so greatful this worked for me!

@Coquille and @rochelleS ... Thank you both so much for your input. I feel like my problem is so minor compared to yours. Perspiration literally pores off my scalp and face, and I cannot even get my hair dry. However, I had chronic migraines for years (almost daily). That was before Botox and Imitrix. I literally had to take all sorts of different meds to prevent and then treat migraines. None of them even really helped that much. I know what you are going through. I wouldn't want those migraines back for anything. I did receive an injection into my 11's and also into my corrugator muscles above my eyebrows. So far, no results, but I'll know what to watch for. Fortunately, I have bangs, so if my eyebrows look odd, I'll just let my bangs grow a little longer and make the doctor aware of it next time around. Thanks again for your input!

Re: Botox -- Anyone Try?

@Yardlie

Just be mindful this could take up to several sessions before you experience results.  Don't worry  or get discouraged. My doc was very specific in explaining this to me when I started the injections. Perhaps googling hyperhidrosis botox "results " will provide additional info for you.
