My NP says I have blepharitis. It is flaking on the area between the eyelid and brow. I had quit eyeshadows thinking I might be allergic to them. Anyway, she said to get No Tears shampoo and bathe the area in warm water with the shampoo. I guess it takes a while to "fix", but it will eventually. Just thought some of you might have this and be wondering like me......

I also have it, had it forever. I use J&J baby shampoo on a Qtip to wash the lash line. My issue is bumps/styes very small, along the lash line that causes irritation. I was told it was caused by mites, yuck!!

I had I t for a few weeks several years ago. I was told to use the baby shampoo also. It was a hassle to deal with but it did go away. I was told it was because I did not remove my eye make up completely. I make sure now there is no mascara, liner, or eye shadow residue on my eyes after cleansing at night.

I get it when I use eyeshadows with too much mica. I love shimmery shades but use them sparingly - like when I've got an event to attend. After removing my makeup, I always use just a tiny dot of hydrocortisone cream and it never fails to take care of it.

I worked for an ophthalmologist for almost 25 years. Blepharitis and conjunctivitis were extremely common complaints, especially with our female patients, mostly do to inadequate removal of eye makeup. We used to advise the use of baby shampoo also for the blepharitis. Using a good eye makeup remover is key to prevention. Also, keep your makeup brushes clean--I clean mine every month. I soak in the baby shampoo and hot water, changing the water several times until no trace of makeup remains in the water. Also, your eye shadow/liner/mascara can easily become contaminated so after the infection clears up get new product.

That's one theory, but it can also be caused by a bacterial infection, seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, malfunctioning oil glands in the eyelids, or allergies.

My conjunctivitis and blepharitis are caused by rosacea and oily skin. Warm compresses help.

I, too, have this and have had it for a couple of years. I was just diagnosed with Rosacea and did not know that this could be part of this disease.

I feel that doing the very warm wet compresses is the very best thing to do. If you do this 2ce a day for 10 minutes at a time, and continue to do it indefinitely, you will be amazed at the relief you will feel!

I also use really moisturizing eye drops 2-3 times a day.

I got blepharitis so badly that I had what appeared to be styes in my eyes. It was very painful, not to mention, horrible looking.

The key to this disease, is diligence and keeping the eye area scrupulously clean. It's a pain but worth it.

Good luck!

If the baby shampoo doesn't work there's a lid scrubbing product that you can buy at the pharmacy. That's what my eye doctor told me to use when I had blepharitis a few years ago. I don't remember how long I had to use it, but I haven't had a problem since. It's in with the contact lens/eye drops section or ask the pharmacist.

My husband is an eye doctor, and I also have mild blepharitis caused by rosacea. I use a lid scrub, and he also has me on a daily low dose of doxycycline. It helps a LOT!
