Birchbox

My neice has gotten two boxes and is happy with them. She wants me to get it too(she gets some kind of credit if she refers anyone). I don't know if I want to pay $12 a month($120 year) for something I really don't need, as I have more makeup than I know what to do with. Are these Birchboxes all that great?
