Avon Original Skin So Soft Bath Oil is all I have used for years. And now my kids are using it on my grandkids, so I always stock up.

We have a camp in Maine and the bugs are bad. Black fly bites are horrible. I actually get sick from them.

I bought cutter bug wipes and it became part of my morning beauty ritual the past two summer's. Worked really well and would last most of day. Off deep woods has wipes but harder to find. They both have deet. I use the wipes on exposed areas, then spray the nasty Off on my clothing.

The natives say not to wear anything scented including deodorant or hair spray. The more of your body you can cover the better. I spray the inside of our hats. We have the opposite problem, my husband isn't an attractor, the bugs gravitate to me.

I am in the woods a lot. The recommendation to keep the deer ticks away and the mosquitos carrying deadly viruses from biting, is DEET. Knowing the consequences of any of these diseases is motivation enough for me to apply some pretty strong DEET concentrations according to the directions, to protect me for hours. If you don't, you or somebody close is pulling embedded deer ticks out of your body ... and then going after the head. ${#emotions_dlg.scared}$ Yuck! They make me cringe.

This thing is the BEST thing since sliced bread and I hope they never stop making it! I first tried it a few years ago when I went to a mosquito-infested quaint town in Texas for vacation. Literally, you could see swarms of them flying overhead - they were everywhere! This Clip-on Off contraption WORKS and it's worth the money spent. The best thing about it is you're not putting poison on your skin and it doesn't have a smell to it.

I have gotten good results from Bullfrog on camping trips. I really look for that brand if I can find it.

Cutter too. I haven't tried the off thing you can wear but glad to see that it works.

I use DEET too - depending on where I am - because i don't want to risk tick-born diseases or I am camping (I am one of those that they love to bite)

If you do use DEET wash it off as soon as you can do so. It is effective, but it also is a toxin to people too.

I own the one by Burt's Bees that you may be able to pick up at the drugstore or Target or Walmart.

Yes, black fly bites are the worst! We live practically in the woods, but I never experienced black fly bites until I sat outside at a neighbor's a few years ago. Nothing has ever itched like that, and the scars took months to go away. I never could have believed a fly bite would be so bad. Great suggestions on this board, I've been afraid to try anything because of the dogs.

I spray around the outside on my condo deck and it helps keep bugs out, have used inside as well. It does have a fresh cedar scent, which I like, but it eventually goes away. It's safe for pets, kids, and adults against fleas, bed bugs, flying insects, etc. They have a lot of different options. (If you order via another website read reviews first as some note that the product is not the same.)
