Re: Before & after make up models

@snipsnapsnur   I know right, those camera guys seem to be slow on the uptake.   Also the models all nodding and agreeing with whatever the host and rep are saying about the make-up and skincare!!   They do the same facial antics for every beauty presentation.  The Tarte Marajuca lip plumper did nothing for my lips.

HSN has older models that look more like everyday women, with sagging and wrinkles. So who knows how much product they sell??   Dmitri's models are on the younger side.

I no longer fall for the hype. I was at a Chanel counter the other day. The Sales rep tried 3 foundations on me. None of the shades looked right and they were thick and cakey-looking.  My skin looks better without foundation.

Re: Before & after make up models

I don't watch QVC anymore and haven't in decades.  I'm on the side that believes beautiful models (male and female) sell more products.  No matter what they're selling, I want to see beautiful people selling products.  I'm sure I'm not the majority but that's ok, I'm used to it (g)

Amen to that those camera people ........might as well have Lassie handling the cameras. They never show the inside of a handbag. They rush the presentation then when they finally get around to unzipping the bag the camera person is out to coffee break. So, I sit there and say 'well, guess I don't know how many pockets it has', etc.

Plus quit loading  up the bags with junk. I, for one, haven't carried an umbrella any time in my life. Plus, last thing I need in dry as a bone Tx. I won't be carrying a computer in mine either.   Just show how it big the opening is , and the interior pockets.

Re: Before & after make up models

I think the reasoning behind showing a particular item in addition to the others, is because we generally tend to wear our makeup with other items. So it shows a finished look. BTW, on some of the before and afters I see either a hot mess or not so attractive models.

Re: Before & after make up models

I would prefer to see make up demo on a face without make up.  It doesn't have to be the entire face,  but if you are selling eye shadow,  have the model come out without shadow on and show how you apply it.  Same with blush.  They do demos on models with full faces of make up already on and then they just keep layering the same color over and over.

Some of the companies do take off foundations and then reapply.  Very helpful.  Some do it with lipsticks...  maybe show a model with one lip color on,  remove it and then put a different one on,  so we see various shades on different skin tones.

Years ago they would have displays of the colors they were selling on the table,  so you could see the entire palette and see the colors next to each other.

I don't think Shawn needs to demonstrate putting mascara over her falsh eyelashes.  I don't understand why she does that.

So True!!!! You can bet on it that the camera guy is indeed a GUY. No clue as to what we might be interested in seeing and why we tuned in in the first place. QVC would know this if it was a female in charge of this show and it certainly should be.
