Has anyone done this? What was the "formula" they mentioned on the show for making the bar soap into a liquid soap?

You should post this on Allison Waggner’s facebook page. She is the one that gave the recipe. Or you can contact Beekman CS on their website.

Turn bar soap scraps into liquid hand soap or body wash
Step 1: Gather scraps of old bar soap equal to 4 ounces, which is the weight of a regular bar of scrap. You could also use a new bar of soap.
Step 2: Shred the soap using a cheese grater or a potato peeler.
Step 3: Heat the soap pieces in a pot with approximately 8 to 9 cups of water until it melts. Use less water if you want to make a creamy body wash instead of liquid hand soap.
Step 4: Remove melted soap from the heat and let it sit covered for 12 to 24 hours.
Step 5: After the soap thickens overnight, use a whisk or a mixer to blend it together. If it’s too thick or too thin, you can make adjustments and repeat the previous steps as necessary.
Step 6: Transfer to containers for storage. Look how much soap it made!

To use up all those little slivers of bar soap?
We didn't normally make them into liquid, but my mother would save the small leftover pieces of the bars and put them together in a net bag, which we would then use as a "scrubbie" to wash with in our baths.

I agree...sounds ridiculous. I'd be concerned about sanitary conditions, on used scraps of soap. Then cleaning out your equipment to to liquefy...not for me.
Speaking of liquid soap...I use and like Jergens extra moisture hand soap ...I found it at Dollar Tree...$1. Not for body.
