Reading about the new vibrating machines for BB creams, it struck me: When I have bought "weird" products (beauty or otherwise) like this in the past, they are always the ones I'm no longer using 2 years later. I'm talking about ionic hair combs, "all-in-one" makeup products, creams that reek of fish (sorry Perricone girls), scrubs that supposedly reduce fat storage, instant-facelift products, wrinkle stickers, double-chin reducers, facial exercisers, No-Nos...Devices, in particular, tend to be the worst offenders. (The one exception might be the Clarisonic.)

I am always excited about these products when I see them on infomercials or in the Bliss catalog or on QVC. Then I buy them...then, in 6 months, they are in the junk pile and it hurts to look at them.

Why do we do this? Why do we feel we need all this weird, gimmicky junk? The products we stick with in the long run are effective and enjoyable MAINSTREAM products.

Thoughts?
