Re: Beauty Task You Dislike Most!

I did an Amz  search on "root touch up."

I was surprised to see several forms of "Root Touch Up" products:  .

Spray, Powder, Palette, Mascara Wand, for starters

Am silly curious.  Do any of these work?

Fussing with my non-existent hypothyroid eyebrows. I'm not a big makeup wearer - I'd be happy with mascara, eyeliner and a dab of blush.  Putting on eyebrows so that they don't seem garish and fake seems to take for ever.

My eyebrow hairs seem to disappear by the day. I have had tests done to check my thyroid but that doesn't seem to be the problem. There use to be a question of what one makeup item would you want with you on a deserted beach and my answer is an eyebrow pencil. Only my husband sees me without my eyebrow pencil. *sigh*

Re: Beauty Task You Dislike Most!

Facial hair removal, by far... Which has just gotten so much worse over the years ( I'm 61). A few stray chin hairs has turned into a lot of chin hairs and even cheek hairs- I have a TRIA, but it hasn't helped much-  It's a struggle and very upsetting. I am thankful hubby has poor close vision! 🤣. The other beauty tasks aren't nearly as disturbing. If you blessed with little or no facial hair, be thankful.

I HATE getting my hair cut.......when I mentioned it to one stylist he told me he was more girly than I was.  We got a big chuckle out of it.

Shaving, plucking etc are next up.

Re: Beauty Task You Dislike Most!

Getting rid of my facial hair. I have two areas where it grows in and I have to tweeze twice a week to keep it up. I used to get it waxed and I will say it keeps it at bay the best, but gets annoying going every 3-4 weeks...I may go back to it though in the warmer months as my hair tends to grow much more then..

Re: Beauty Task You Dislike Most!

Everything mentioned here and then some! Woman LOL

For body hair I would suggest getting some of the laser hair removal treatments or perhaps the at home device.  I had that done many yrs ago and it works really well.  I did my upper lip and my under arms.  Couldn't afford to do any other areas as it was very expensive 20+ years ago but now I think prices are more affordable or the at home devices may be best now.  Not sure on that.

I feel over whelmed at times with all the "maintenance" and expense.  I do my own manicures and pedicures as I like how I do them better and for some reason on my toes I will get those white spots when polish is removed.

Hair...let me count the ways!  I gave UP!  I have very curly frizzy hair...I only blow dry the top bang area and let the rest air dry.  Covering gray has become necessary at 4 wks...but I hate the cost!  I need to try and do it myself.  Plus I must wash my hair daily so more work there.

There are others for sure I wish I didn't HAVE to do...like wearing foundation no matter what.  Since I have rosacea foundation has become my #1 essential to just blend in with the world and it takes time to apply and make sure I look ok for the day.  It's a love hate relationship I have LOL but I have told my husband if he has to call a ambulance for me then he must apply my foundation before they get there Woman LOL

@JoyFilled Warrior   Fortunately, my hair is still dark brown, but I see an occasional silver strand showing up. So, I have never needed a root remedy. I have never needed to color my hair.

However, my hairline has been disappearing from alopecia.

Years ago, I bought Joan Rivers Great Hair Day product from QVC. It is a powder and it comes with a brush. I just dab it at hairline and my widening part. It has been a popular product for many years and the Q still sells it.

When I bought mine, they had run out of the Brunette color.

Joan said that the blonde would work for brown hair and she was right. The powder in the Blonde shade, is more of a dark

taupe and works with my dark color. I think that it works the same way the Universal Taupe eyebrow pencils work.

My daughter has been coloring her graying dark hair for years. She has used root sprays.

Check out the Joan Rivers Great Hair Day reviews online to

see if it really covers roots.

My biggest problem is that the alopecia has depleted my eyebrows and I have about 10 hairs left on each one. It takes me 15 minutes to do my eyebrows and I don't do big thick ones. I try to replicate what my natural brows once looked like.

First with short hair like strokes I fill in where my brows once were, with a YBF Universal Taupe pencil. Then I brush

on a taupe brow powder by IT and the powder softens the effect. I just have to be careful not to let any moisturizer or

primer not to touch the brow area or the pencil will not work.

Oh, for the days when I could do all my makeup in 10 minutes!

Trying to apply 'never-perfect' mascara on the eyelashes that I've hardly ever really had.

So why haven't use tried false lashes or extensions?  Your eyes and mouth (lips) are what people look at the most and pull a look together.

Hi @monicakm

Yeah, that's why I wear False "Demi" Lashes.  I gave up hunting for my own "Natural Lashes" long ago, before I poke myself blind!

So     Zip  Zip ... My False Eyelashes are on

See pic below.  These  every  day "Demi Lashes" of mine are soo discreet.  Yet I still like a great, thicker lash look, esp for fancier events  heh

These used to be called "Demi" lashes when I was young.  Now called "Whispy's"

Started playing with False Eyelashes when a teen   (Thicker, more dramatic ones then, Twiggy, etc)

Re: Beauty Task You Dislike Most!

I hate styling my hair. It's worse now that I have wiry grey hairs that don't want to behave. I should be happy it's fairly thick, but it takes forever to dry. If I won the lottery I would pay someone to do my hair every single day.

I also hate shaving my legs. My older sisters who are in their 70s tell me they don't have to do it as much anymore, but at 60, I still see dark hair on my fair legs. Plus, I hate the feel of stubble on my legs.
