I opened up a new bottle of Direct Lab Power Punch Vitamin C serum only to find that it was rancid!  I had ordered three of the 2-ounce bottles from ShopLC after first buying the 1-ounce size on Amazon and liking it.  I thought it had to be a fluke so opened a second bottle.  It and the third bottle were rancid, too.  I called ShopLC, and even though I had placed the order in January, they refunded my money.  Whew!  I'm sure it was just a one-off, but that may be why they're getting

rid of the 2-ounce bottles.

Interesting about the Power Punch serum going bad. I've never had a bad bottle since I started buying it a while ago. I wouldn't know how to tell if it was 'rancid' or not, tbh.

Re: Beauty Purchases This Week; 4/25/24

@JudyL when I opened the bottle, the color of the serum was a very light orange.  I squeezed out what was in the dropper, and it just kind of looked funny.  So I put the dropper back in and shook it up really well.  I started applying some to my face, and the texture was way off.  It was like it had separated into a really runny liquid.  By that time, it was on my face, and that was when I got a whiff of it, and wowee!  It smelled like really strong sunscreen in a bad way. lol  There was no hint of the pleasant orange scent that my first bottle had.  I could hardly get it off my face fast enough, and I swear...I could still smell that horrible smell hours later.  Blech. So, the color, texture, and scent were not at all normal.  Believe me, you and @SilleeMee will know if you ever get a bad bottle!

@Ainhisg

 I bought five bottles of the Power Punch all at once and they are due to expire at the end of next month, May. I put them in the fridge when I got them. I'm down to three bottles now. So far all are okay. Too bad they had such short dates when I bought them. Wish I had known their exp dates before my purchase. Oh well. Live and learn.

ETA-

I just figured out that my serums are all expired.

Re: Beauty Purchases This Week; 4/25/24

I think I just may go back to using a 100% pure THDA oil which I buy from a supply house. That comes in a small squeeze dropper bottle and I can just add a drop to my moisturizer in the morning.

@SilleeMee  - That's too bad they expire so soon. I just went and looked at my boxes and the bottle I'm currently using and don't see an expiration date on either.  So far my Vit C Power Punch looks fine.  Will pay attention when I open a new bottle.

@JudyL

The Power Punch bottles have a batch code printed on the bottom. For example, the batch code on my bottles is 22105 which means it was manufactured in the year 2022 in April. Shelf life is 2 years. Batch code is also printed on the box it comes in.

ETA-

The batch code 22105 means the year and the Julian day where 105 is April 14. So technically the serum is already expired. @JudyL

@SilleeMee  - I just looked at mine and mine are the same.  Thank you for letting me know.  I now will be on the hunt for a new Vit C

@JudyL @SilleeMee im sure my experience was just a random occurrence. I wish I had the boxes/bottles, because I'd see what mine said, but the trash came today. Btw...I understand the 22 in the code, but how did you figure out the other numbers equal April?

@Ainhisg

5-digit batch codes are given by 2-digit year followed by the Julian day..

For batch code 22105...

The '22' is the year. The '105' is the Julian day which turns out to be April 14. So the serum is already expired.

@kathie66 , I think we'll all be glowing this summer.  Both me and @monicakm recently bought body luminizers.
